Talking My 7th Gen AV6 vs 8th Gen AV6

Well I had my first race encounter with a 8th Gen Accord Sedan V6 Auto Stock. I saw him in my rearview mirror coming up quick and sure enough the light in front of us turns red . He pulls up to my right and its a man in his mid-late 40's? I thought to myself that he probably was just speeding and not wanting to race. Well I was ready anyway to take off hard just in case. Well the light turns green and he is off! Well luckily I had left off at about half throttle and when I saw he pounded it I followed suit. I had the slightest delay in reaction with my half throttle to full throttle compared to his full throttle start but not enough to put me behind. We were pretty much dead even until I floored it. Once I hit VTEC I pulled. At the end of 1st he was at my rear bumper and I let off around 50MPH where he was about 1 full car behind me. I figured that I really didn't need to go any further since It wasn't as close as I thought it would have been. I was actually suprised it didn't do better. I know the 8th Gen Coupe 6MT is a different story!

Stock auto vs stock auto it would probably be a good race with the slight edge to the 7th gen from what I have seen.

Nice kill! You probably would've pulled even more up top, especially with your mods.

I honestly would've been surprised if you didn't win, given your mods and weight advantage. But nice kill nonetheless

While my old 07 AV6 EX-L was being serviced by Honda (couple of years ago), I took an identically equipped 08 version out for a spin and found that it did not feel ANY quicker than my 07. For a car with 271hp, it's safe to say that some of those horses must have escaped the corral at the factory. (And I thought my 07 was fairly gutless. )

And just to get some perspective, I tried out a used 07 TL-S 5AT (which was for sale at the same dealership) and determined that it could lay the hurt on both of them without breaking too much of a sweat.

I agree, the current gen Accord V6 Sedan auto feels pretty gutless to me as well. Had one at Enterprise recently for work and it definately does not feel like a car with that much power.

I bet the 6MT is another story, the transmissions really do a lot to change the character of these cars.
