My '04 WDP 6-speed.

Hey guys!

I just picked up an '04 TL, and I can't get over how nice the car is - even for being 8 years old. My first car was a DC5, which I traded for a 6spd Kia Forte, and now I'm back in a Honda - what can I say.

The car has some body damage, and I'll probably eventually get the car resprayed - but it was a deal that I just couldn't pass up.

One thing however, the previous owner put a dash trim kit on, and I really want to take it off. Do you guys know if it will leave residue?

The trade-in:

The old DC5 with 05-06 front/rear conversion:

Congrats Welcome to AZ! Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA or https://www.myacura.acura.ca/ in Canada. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.
You may also want to post here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-owners-sign-564449/

It may leave a residue. But Googone should take it off.

^ Yeah, looks a lot like this:

Sort of ironic since Japan has historically taken U.S. ideas, copied them, then made them better (ie. televisions, cars, other electronics) and are now argueably the best manufacturers of these products. Now Korea is doing it to Japan. The "copying" part anyway. Probably not the "better" part.

Sorry, thread derailment

welcome to the WDP 6MT group

as for the dash kit it truly does depend on the glue/tape used by the maker... it think it should come off easily and a little bit of touch up/goo gone after should put a shine on it again.. however if not most of the items are inexpensive except for the metal side trim which is not covered.. you can find most things on the AZINE black market

Oh God, I know. I tried getting one piece off with the heat gun, and it took a bit of time. I'm letting the car bake in the sun a few hours, then I'm going to try to peel them off.

Trying to get lower payments, with school loans coming in. Lowered my payment by $140 a month.

Glad to be apart of it! And yeah, my driver's side metal trim is destroyed from the previous owner. I already looked up the cost to replace; my angus wasn't peppered.

Is that Hiley Mazda in Arlington? I live right behind that dealership, if that is indeed where your car came from!

I'm a guy, lol... I don't think that they're as tight as you think. Anyway, I finally got that ugly trim off, and have a few
blisters to show for it. Had to do it on and off all day, because there were so many freaking pieces.

Looks much better without that stick-on trim. Your priority now should be di-noc to CF wrap the remaining wood trim. Nice pick-up though!

Agreed.

Now my dash has a small crack in it near the air bag... I've read, and I hear it's a common thing with the TL. I'm not spending 2k to have it replaced - has anyone managed a DIY fix? I searched and
couldn't find a thing. I'm thinking of attempting it.

I just had the whole front-end, driver-side door, and rear bumper resprayed.

Next up is the full aspec lip kit, and Function & Form type 2 coilovers.

04WDP6spd,

There's nothing wrong with having a dash kit, Yours was just over done. I would have left the piece over the glove box. From your pics, I see you left the ones around the power window switches.

What made you want to get rid of the 6MT Kia? Never been inside of one, but the outside looks decent.

I did indeed leave the ones around the window switches. I also left the ones on the headliner by the homelink buttons. Honestly I was just too lazy to remove them, but I do agree with you that it was overdone.

I needed a cheaper car payment, as well as more room. The interior was actually quite nice, and I definitely enjoyed it.

I know the guy who did it, and he always gives me great deals. For all that I listed, and the was a gash in my driver's side door that he fixed, he charged me $800 even.

For being a 2012, doesn't look that great tbh. Looks like an unrefined and sloppy type-s interior.

How much are those cars?
