You should know me well enough by now to know I can appreciate a lot of things, but that doesn't mean I like it/would do it myself. I respect the fact that the person who did it likes it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to say I like it if the question comes up.
I don't like the flat blackout, but I think a blackout on the level that I do mine is gorgeous! The chrome A and orange signal bulb accents it just enough at night to set it off! It looks tastefully done, as opposed to that ash tray look of flat black. If you saw my car in person you would see what I mean. Even though I had to put the winter (chrome) rims back on, they don't rob it of it's stealth theme. It looks like it could have come that way off the lot...with some tweaks of course, but not excessive at all! Plus, black leather and blue interior LEDs, and can you say P-I-M-P?

darksom - Hard to tell these days...you haven't been your normal self of late. Dare I say you're...toning it down?!?!? I know you're old, but that's no reason for you to act like it!
Your car does look good, but that's because you have accents, things that break it up. You need to clear your tails to match your headlights, though.
Flat black is a tough color to pull off. Old muscle cars can do it (hence why I said the new Challenger); a car like the TL or a Porsche can't. Certain colors work on certain cars, but not others...a red RL looks odd; a red Vette looks great.

^^^ the car looks like Darth Vader's face...it definitely stands out, but its not a good stand out, to me this is an over done rice mobile. I like classy, sporty, sexy...Benz seems to capture that idea very well, look at the new C-Class, or the SL class.

Oh yeah, gloss black is a different story! I love all black as long as it isn't matte finish. My last 2 cars were all blacked out too. Tail, headlight treatments, license plates. I was about to get NBP (I saw it on my friend's Civic and I loved the bluish sparkle in it.) but my wife talked me into Anthracite. (Not that I regret it all, I was due for something different) My next car will be...you guesed it. BLACK...Trust me I have the Knightrider in me!

Well, I did this in 2004 to my 2003 Acura CL-S:
Sorry they are so far away from the car, I never really got a chance to take good pictures of it. The wheels were color matched to the car.....just wish I had center caps, but oh well..

My wife is laughing so hard, there is a name for this? Does this also apply to people who replace their OEM hoods for a flat black one. LOL all this time we thought these folks just didn't have the money to finish their paint jobs.
I promise when you are 35 you will look back at just how silly it is to throw such money away. When your 40 you will look back and understand ENRON would of been a better investment in your family's future then some of the silly mods I see around here.

Flat black grew on me after Rob & Big but I say...
Murdered Out Gloss Black FTMFW!
I would murder out my car if it was NBP but I'm AM! I can still make it stealthy though! Something I'm working on!
