Multi Information Display - Percent Oil Life
I am sure this question has been asked before..."Does the MID showing the percent oil life remaining takes into account the different between synthetic and regular oil? From what I have heard, the car's computer does not sample the oil, but giving the percent remaining based on one's driving habit. Based on this, it doesn't seem to matter what type of oil one uses in his/her car and still have to change the oil based on what the MID says. My point is that by using synthetic oil, I do not have to change the oil as frequently as using regular oil. But of course, synthetic most likely provide better protection.

Using Synthetic; Following the MID.
The Owners Manual, IIRC, is pretty clear that the MID/Oil Life calculation is NOT based synthetic oil, but that you can use synthetic if you choose. However, the OM also points out, that from a warranty standpoint, using synthetic does NOT relieve you from the responsibility of changing the oil as recommended by the MID.
I am sure that is just coprorate ass-covering on the part of Acura, but if you over-extend the OCI, it does give them an out.

Thanks to everyone for their reply. My car has about 4400 miles and it has about 30% oil life left. I just bought some Mobil 1 synthetic and am considering giving it its first oil change. Prior to owning this car, I changed my oil every 3000-3500 miles. So it is a little discomforting to go 4400 miles and the MID is telling me that I still have 30% left.

Honestly, you don't have to worry about the moderate extension in Oil Change Intervals.
Our fleet cars have been on 4,000 and 5,000 mile intervals for the past 6 years or so. All three I've had (Ford Taurus, Pontiac GP, Chevy Impala) have been solid engine-wise on those intervals. And that's with the cheapest oil/filter they can find.

read the owner manual- it says for break in period on the motor- run it down till 10 percent (about 6000-7500 miles) THEN get first service where they check all the basics and change the oil abnd filter. Changing first oil too soon is bad idea according to ACURA
Then you can run synthetic or dino- depending on your driving- trips- traffic whatever-
7500 miles is a normal change time with `modern cars and modern oils`
