mpg for acura tl type-s

I'm averaging 20 on a car with less than 500 miles on it and mostly city driving. Driving home on the highway from picking it up, the mileage was in the high 20's--about the same as my 04 TL. No complaints there.

City: 20 - 21
Mixed: 24 - 25
Highway: 30 - 32
I went out of town over the weekend (Seattle to Portland and back). Averaging great mileage! Can't complain... Gotta love my 6MT and the fact that I don't have a heavy right foot!

I've been averaging ~24 mpg commuting to work and running errands. My commute is 23 miles one way, with about 1/3 slow, congested highway, 1/3 cruising an interstate and 1/3 city streets with lots of traffic lights.
On the open road I've been consistantly over 30mpg.

I get about 18-19 average with combined city and freeway driving. I have about 1700 miles on it so far. I'm looking forward to it getting better after I do the first oil change. I do have a lot of fun with it though, taking off from complete stops and stepping on it on the freeway when I get a chance.

Great mileage on highway
I got my TL Type S three weeks ago and have been getting about 18 mpg around town. i just got back from a long trip to Virginia and, believe it or not, got about 35 mph when traveling down I-95 (using trip computer). My average for the 1100 mile tround trip, based on the trip computer was 32 mpg which included a lot of heavy traffic in Wash. DC and NYC. I used cruise control and an average hwy speed of about 68 mph.

Just filled up today, 20.9. I have about 700 miles on the car. My mileage seems to be improving. I filled up at 305 miles, it showed 6 miles on the range, i put in 14.4 gallons (about 2.7 to spare).

Wow, I can't believe that mileage.... although, most of them are still very new need to be broken in before the gas mileage gets better.
I know you guys are asking about the newer TLS's, but my 03 TLS gets 23/24 around town and 32 on the highway (475-485 miles on a tankful)
and I am a very spirited driver

hmm..i've about a quarter tank left, and i've only done about 160 miles..
i feel like im getting horrible mileage..
did i mention this is the first tank of gas straight from the dealership..
does the MPG get better, or is something wrong with my car?
i have a 07 TL type-S with Navi

You people understand that this is a 300 horsepower car, right? And a 6-cylinder none-the-less.
6-cylinder + 300HP + Naturally Aspirated = BAD MPG
Although my highway mileage was 30 from Vegas to LA...
I'm not sure why you guys are all complaining about 18-20 MPG in a "sports" sedan. If you're worried about MPG, you should have bought a Civic, or something a little more economical.

I wouldn't say I'm complaining, but the mileage I'm currently getting is no where near the mileage that was advertised. I drive like a grandma, on mostly highway, and have been getting roughly 19. Maybe it is break in, maybe not. Time will tell.

I realized the same mpg average years ago with a 4 cylinder Toyota Celica with less then half the horsepower.
My TL-S gets about the same as my MDX but significantly less then my previous 97 Acura CL 4 cylinder 5MT that my college bound daughter is now driving.

My commute is roughly 40 miles with a mix between highway and back road commute. I regularly get 25 MPG with all the driving I do, but have seen 27's and 28's when I drive easy.

ready for this guys....... 17mpg this fall (brand new) around 21mph average
now with the winter....... winter fuel??, the cold starts, short drives etc i range 13-15.
on my highway trips to a nearby lake, about an hour away, i've average around 25mpg.
problem is that my longest daily drive is 15-20 min so there are lots of cold starts in between. it's lots of city driving and the highway isn't much better most of the time. Also, people don't know how to drive if there's an inch of snow on the ground.... slows u down. my average mph is 17-18 recently

My other complaint (addressed in many, many other posts) is about the fuel gauge calibration. I understand the need for a reserve, but 3 gallons?!? The range on my BMW was around 220 miles with city driving; I'm lucky to get 180 from my TL. At least I know that "Empty" means "Empty in another 60-75 miles."

I notice my MPG getting better after every fill up.
When I first bought my car, I got 18MPG mixed. I get 22MPG mixed now with 2400 miles. I've been stepping on it more often now also, so don't worry, your MPG will get better!
It'll be great if we get more power and better MPG after our first oil change.

Posted this in another thread about TLS MPG....
I must have a freak engine. My 07 TLS 6MT with <2K miles has consistantly gotten 29 MPG in town (suburban, not city) and 32 MPG on the highway. I'm still on factory oil. I think the reason is that I frequently skip-shift into higher gears and don't rev the engine real high very often. So I'm just purring along. I know you can't do much about that with an AT.

6900 miles on 07 TL-S
About 18mpg just city.
About 30mpg 65mph highway
I haven't gone on any open road trips to see if it gets better.
A mix of driving about 22mpg.
Who cares unless you drive ALOT. Just buy another beater 4 cyl/stick and keep mileage
low on TL-S, while keeping resale value HIGH.

I drive 3/4 highway and 1/4 city and get about 20-21. Thats because I drive fast and get all the performance out of my car that I can. What can I say its a fun car to drive why not use what its got.
