I know gas mileage sux when the car is new. At what point did your gas mileage begin to improve? I still get 20mpg at 2200 miles w/ significant highway travel and I drive "normal."

I've only filled my tank 3 times and gotten 26, 25, and 29 MPG in a mixed driving (except for the 29, which was mostly highway). I would say something's wrong. Or you drive like a maniac ;-)

I have a little less than 5K on my TL Auto. I got 30mpg on a recent trip to Arkansas. Car was loaded down and the A/C ran constantly. Total trip was about 1500 miles. About 1400 was Interstate but some of that was through cities (Austin, Dallas, Little Rock, etc.). About 100 miles was strictly city type driving at my destination. I routinely get about 30+ on the highway at 70-75 mph. Around town I get at a minimum of 23 and sometimes as much as 25. I bought my car in Dallas in February and drove it home about 250 miles and got in the upper 20's on it brand new.

moreace, if you're sure your speed is constantly above 50 MPH and don't run some spirit driving or stop-and-go, your MPG seems pretty low. As you know I'm in NYC, in city, I have 15-18 MPG from Day1 to today, and have 23-29 MPG if I stay in Highway.

sounds about right to me. don't get too freaked out when your mpg is in the teens in the city. i never get good mileage trying in the city with all the stop and go.

Noticed significant jump in gas milage after adding K&M filter at about 6,000 miles (6-spd). It is also warmer ambient temp (faster warmup) and broken in. Went from about 23 mpg to 26 mpg (avg 33 mph - city/highway 50%/50%) and I drive the TL like I stole it from every stop! Cannot believe I get this good gas milage from a pretty fast car. Kudos Acura! Cannot wait for 300 hp and AWD.

I'm sure you're all aware of all my problems, but after the service visit last week where they replaced one of my O2 sensors that had completely failed, and reflashed my ECU, my city mileage has gone up a full 3 mpg. I was averaging 21-22 total MPG, with sometimes 16city and very easily 30-32 highway, but a full take average of 22'ish. Now it's not dipped below 25mpg and I've been driving the snot out of it.

Apparently there are some computation and sensory differences in these cars that is being sorted out.

Take it in and see if you have the newest firmware.

And after I read that .. I felt like I was here at work talking about our Dell servers.. "it's not working right"....... "did you put the current firmware on it??" So maybe our TL's should have a floppy drive for flashing.. *g*.

Sorry.. I geeked.

I have the 6MT and drive mostly highway, so my mileage started out pertty good. I did notice at around 5 or 6K, it has improved some. I do the same trip a lot and have used it to do some highway "long run" comparisons. On my very new car I got around 30 at an average of 65 mph on a 100 mile streach. Just recently with 9000 miles on the odo, I got 30, but my average speed was 75. When the car was new I tended to get around 27 or 28 when I ran 75. Oh, by the way, I am now mixing 93 octane and 89 octane as my way of combating the higher gas prices. I have a simple plan. I alternate between 93 on one tank and 89 on the second. I always make sure when I fill with 89 that the tank is a least half full and when I fill with 93 it is around 1/4 full. This way I can be reasonably sure that I have around 91 or better octane. (The 30 at 75 run was made just after I had filled up with 89 octane at half a tank.)
