Motor Mounts replaced

Motor Mounts replaced
Few days ago I had 2 motor mounts replaced the front as well as the passenger side. I had taken the car in for a warranty work for the passenger side mount because it had a hairline crack but I also wanted to go ahead and replace the front ones being that one takes the most pressure from the engine. Now the car is pretty smooth during take offs no slight clunking sound coming from the passenger side like before. However, I was wondering during idle when the car is warm or even cold with a/c compressor cycling on and off is the steering wheel suppose to vibrate?? Meaning I am feeling the vibration in the steering also, it seems a little smoother after it's in park or neutral but only does it in gear. I was told that the rear and the rest of the motor mounts were fine.

Hey folks, I actually got this checked out today along with getting my glove box locking mechanism replaced which of course I ended up with separate keys for the glove box which I am fine with that. I explained to service director about the issue with vibration in the steering and he mentioned that there is a damper hit for the earlier models TL meaning 04-06. He will order it and will not charge anything for it. Hopefully this solves the problem and reduce the vibration since I have 2 new mounts on there

Most definitely, I also come to find out last night that my drivers side hid is flickering a little and is slightly brighter then passenger side one which the whole assembly (passenger side) has been replaced along with new bulbs after a fender bender last month. Looks like I will get this checked on Monday

Ok guys and girls I got the Dynamic Damper Kit installed today and there was no charge depending on dealer but it is worth getting. I can actually feel some differences now much more smoother then before. Vibration has been reduced to almost elimination. Here is the part # 50207-SEP-305

I think it was covered under goodwill because the Service Director had gotten rid of one of the service advisor who used to work there. He was one of the most dumbest person I ever met basically he sucked at his job and the service director saw that he could not perform simpliest things and he got let go last week while trying to handle my paper work. I had went into dealer for my glove box locking mechanism replacement last week and for a while in last couple months I had to keep coming back or reschedule for simplest things and he was really bad about follow ups

Another thing I wanted to add to this is that even though there is information on this site about the dynamic front damper kit just for the 2004 TL's this actually does apply to 05's and 06's as well I don't know if they finally had fixed this issue in 07-08's but the 04-06 needed this kit in order to smooth things out. I don't know why Acura never inserted these after 04

I could'nt find it either not even estore acura website but, the dealer had the parts in stock don't know how much it would cost if they charge any but should not be too expensive something like $88.00 and 1 hour labor cost. To me it was worth getting it even if I would have to pay I still would get it done just to have less vibration to none.

How much less vibration is there in the steering wheel? Is there some vibration idling in park then gets worse when it's in gear and even worse when the AC is running? Or has it eliminated all that? The dealer says my car is normal and I don't like that it vibrates. When the AC is on and I'm idling I can sometimes feel it in the seat.

Before I had the dampers done I would feel vibration in the steering with a/c on especially when the high speed cooling fan kicks in and this happens when in stop and go traffic or sitting at the traffic light. When I would have it in park with a/c things would smooth out but reverse or drive I would feel vibration due to the load. Without a/c in reverse or park there is no vibration. The steering wheel will not shake but putting your hands on there you would feel it. Now with dampers it has made differences I hardly feel the vibration in steering and I def don't feel it in the seats before I would feel it a little in the seats but now that has been eliminated. The steering has made a difference in terms of vibration I mean it is alot less and sometimes non. If you are feeling this in the seats and alot in the steering I would get the dampers done. Have you done the motor mounts replacement??

I have not done the motor mounts because the dealer says that they're fine. I guess my next step is to go to an indy to verify if they are cracked then go back to the dealer because they're still under the powertrain warranty. I'll have to ask about the part that they added for you.

Yeah that would be a good idea to get a 2nd opinion. Dealers will not replace a motor mount unless there is a visible deep hairline crack or if the mount is busted. My passenger side mount had a deep hairline crack that was covered. My front mount was slightly worn but ok which I went ahead and replaced that one as well on an out of pocket expense. The rest of the mounts like the rear motor mount as well as the transmission mounts were fine. I am hoping the dealer will give you a goodwill damper install because that made a difference

Sorry no pictures I had this done at the dealer and they had the parts available so while I waited they went ahead and installed it at no charge. I know there was a link for the parts on this site but apparently it is down or something. Also, the service director at Acura had told me that the earlier models (04-06) of the TL needed these dampers it wasn't just 04 models apparently 05's and 06's needed this part

This sounds more like a virbration mount to me... I looked all over my TL and i could not find a damper anywhere and called Acura and all they said they had was the vibration mounts that would do what your explaining.

oh this was the damper for the early 04 build with the "droning" vibration issue.
usually happen at low RPM many early 04 owner complaint about this.
I see new cars have them already on from factory. I even see this on the accords...

Yeah I thought the same but it seems like all the 04's thru 06's maybe some of those models were hit and misses happen to not have them installed till after worths. 07's thru 08's all had them
