Moleskin Failure
Well my passenger front moleskin just failed. Streaked the hell out of the tint, too. Looking for a little advice...
What's the best way to clean that glue off the tint without major damage to the film?
How would you recommend I reapply the moleskin? When I originally installed it, I removed the door panel and wiper, sanded down the wiper with 1500, cleaned with alcohol and gave enough time for it all to dry before applying the moleskin. I applied making sure there was no overhang, and I pressed every millimeter of the moleskin into the wiper before reassembling. I even waited a week before rolling the windows down.
My application was done just a month or so ago, and I've rolled down the windows only about 5 times since I did it. How is everyone's moleskin holding up?
Your help is appreciated, guys.

Disclamer- I do not have the moleskins on my car, partly because of concerns over this very issue.
It has been my experience with ALMOST anything held in place by stick on adhesive that is exposed to high heat conditions (such as the inside of a car in the summertime) will quickly fail, UNLESS the adhesive is specifically designed for high heat applications.
You can remove adhesive residue from the door with a small amount Goof - Off or WD-40 applied to a rag. For the window tint, I would suggest a small amount of Black Magic car wax, or any car wax that is designed for use on plastic surfaces. Obviously, test in an inconspicous area first and only rub until the adhesive is gone.

Same thing happened to me not to long ago. I was pissed.
I brought it back to the shop to have it taken care of and they did a half ass job. They basically just stuck the old moleskin back on some how, setting it up for future failure.
From what the shop owner said, just use soap and water. I don't know how quickly it will come off but thats what he said to use. Don't use windex or anything with ammonia in it.

my tinter used Plexus on the TINTED windows. this removed all of the streaks from the glue. he said he liked to use that cleaner because not only did it clean the surface, but it also puts a thin layer of wax on the tint so that there's a smoother surface against the moleskin. whether it helps or not im not sure, but boy does my tint feel smooth
or you can use goo gone

Goo Gone worked great. All the glue is gone from the tint and no scratches left behind.
I opened up my door panel to see what was going on. I noticed that the moleskin was still attached to the wiper, but about 1 millimeter of the top edge on the lower wiper looked like it had rolled and exposed the glue. It's fine now, so I pressed the moleskin as much as I could back into the wiper and reassembled. I think I'll apply something to the tint that will make it smoother so there's less friction on the moleskin when operating the windows.
I'm sure I'll encounter this problem again in the future. Good thing it only takes me 90 seconds to remove my door panel

The moleskin did the same to my passenger window after a couple of weeks. I found a small section of the moleskin came up from the lower blade. I just add a tiny amount of a plastic glue that I had in the house. I also clean the blade and the glue that was left on the tint with a little alcohol on a rag. So far so good.
