Which Model Year 3G TL Do YOU Think is the Best/Most Refined?

hey guys

so now that we've gone through 5 production years of 3G TLs (04,05,06,07 & 08s being in the market now)...which year do you think is the most refined / BEST TL year?

I'd have to say 07....although I own an 06, but the 07 has mp3 player capability and fog lights on the bottom with better looking taillights in addition to the fact that the type s is out? Although I love my 06, I have to think the 07 is all around the best...

what do you guys think?

Not to go too off topic-
But does anyone know of a site that shows the progression of the TL. Wikipedia didn't have much of a break down I would like to see. Thanks.

I haven't seen an '08 so I can't comment. I own a '05, but really like the '07...qaud tail pipes, blinkers on side mirrors, two tone interior, Type S option, etc...not a big fan of the fog lights, but that wouldn't deter me. I won't be ready for a new car until 2012...wonder what kind of features it will have then?

i would probably say that 07's are the best time to buy one and also pretty refined ... 08 is probably the worst to buy since the 09 which is the new gen is coming out in a year, but probably has fewer quirks than the 07 ...

The '08 since it has the most up to date Navi Disc.

Honestly it's more like two different model years;

The 04-06 are the same.

and

The 07-08 are also the exact same thing,

in the end its a choice between 04-06 and 07-08.

07 or 08 are the most refined years so far. It has very few flaws and most of the kinks from the first 3 years were worked out, the styling was improved and now gives the car both a sporty image and more refine image.

obviously the most recent version is the most refined (since they fix bugs, improve minor features every year).

If you want to take it in the context of either how much of an improvement over the previous year; or how good it was relative to other cars in its class, I'd say the 04 was the best.

I traded my '05 6MT for an '07 TL-S AT a few months ago. The '07 has more refinement, with a quiet, and comfortable stable ride. I don't think it handles as well, though, and doesn't feel as quick. Both of those comments could be a result of now having the AT, which has poorer weight distribution and higher driveline losses. MPG is also down about 3-4. with the slightly larger engine.
"05= sporty
'07= more luxury than sport

07 def..... it has a couple of extra mounts on the subframes to keep it quieter n tighter.... the suspension was also upgraded most likely for comfort.

It's real easy to get an updated NAV disc. Does this really make the '08 model more refined than the other years?

All these "because I own one" replies are ignorant. The 07 is definitely more refined. The TL has a softer right yet handles very well. For the sporty types there's the TL-S with a stiffer ride and better handling. Better fog lights, turn signals on the mirror (like a Mercedes). What's not to like? Oh and because I own one.

I had an '05 6MT and now i have an '07 6MT Type-s...the '07 is by far more refined. With little to no rattles or squeaks in the '07. But the overall fit and finish is better on the '07. IMO.

05 with mods to 07 Type S... 270 is 270 that's what the paper says... I don't think ppl will care too much about SAE etc. When they see the number drop that's all they look at SAE or not... I still think the number dropped to save gas... IMO

'05 - because I own one, like to shift, and personally wouldn't dole out the extra $$ for the Type-S. I like them, but I'm also cheap.

Can't shift a TL anymore without ponying up for the Type-S. Makes baby Jeebus sad

Hmm interesting to read how people have different preferences. I bought the 06 right before the 07 came out. At first I thought I want the 07 but the more I look at the 07, the more I find that 06 looks cleaner & better in terms of body styling. Interestingly, most like the blinker side mirrors, new style tail lights, 3 points steering wheel, red dash from Type S, fog lights and bigger emblems, quad exhaust tips ....etc. I personally found that Acura tried too hard to make things better in terms of esthetic. The improvements just made the car looks too busy.

However, I have not done any test drive on the 07/08. Based on what I've read here, 07/08 offers firmer/better feel on the steering wheel, plus Acura made some improvement in terms of handling.

I would say I like the styling of 04 to 06 (carbon fiber 4 point steering wheel which I have it! better looking side mirrors, cleaner tail lights and front end... etc); the mechancial improvements (firmer feel on the steering wheel, 3.5L engine... etc) on 07+.

Peace.

In truth, I was only kidding (06 because I own one ). In reality, I would like to have an 07 TL-S. I'm not real crazy about the wheels on the standard TL (07) though, and I think the pre-07 wheels look better. I originally didn't like the Type S wheels, but now think they fit the car well. From what I understand, the leather on the 07 is better as well (per some of the opinions on Acurazine).

My 1st Acura TL S

Well, I got my Acura 3 weeks ago. I was looking for an 06 Tl when I found an 07 Type S for that price.... White is not my color, but for the price, I could not turn it down.... plus pearl white looks great on this carhttp://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...1/DSC00864.jpg

04-05s make exactly the same power as the 06-07s. I raced the girlfriend's 05 with my brand new 8 mile 06 and barely beat her. Both are autos.

I guess I forgot to add my opinion in my last post. I would hope the 07s are more refined than the rest. Don't know how much I would like the softer suspension though. As far as looks, I love the side marker lights and the less busy look of the 04-06s. In fact, I started looking closer at the 07s because I was going to buy the headlights, taillights, etc and realized I liked mine better.

yeah - I think the 07 taillights all depend on what color car you have. I especially think the 07 tails look HOT on a WDP...they look good on my RBP, but maybe some of the other colors (gray, red, DMM, xmas-green) etc, may not look as great?

non-type S tails that is...

2006 is the best. You could get 6sp manual in the base model with BREMBO brakes for well under $33,000.

I was disappointed that in 2007 they don't offer 6sp manual option on the base model.
I was more disappointed that 2007 type S has the same steering with the not-so-good turning radius.

I have an '07 and I agree, I would have liked to have the 6sp manual myself. Would have liked the type-S even more, but I was streaching my finances to buy the regular TL, a couple thousand would have pushed me over the edge.

Automatic TL-S

I never knew that the 07 TL-S did not come with 6spd Manual. I have the TL-S automatic (see link above). but the manual mode using the paddle shifters or stick has a delay when upshifting... so I don't want to redline each gear as it overrevs for a second or so... Is that a common problem with TL-S 5sp automatics???
Kindly advise!
