Modded Projectors and 6000K HID Fogs 56K beware

With all this talk about the mods, I have done the cutoff/color mod and replaced my stock halogen fogs with true HID's. See the pics:
Modded projector output without fogs:

Modded projector output with added 6000K fogs:

Enjoy!

It looks good ding, but I don't think fog lights should be that bright. Kinda defeats the purpose right? Have you tried them on a foggy night? I think you will see better with yellow/orange fog lights than bright white ones.

I didn't buy them for usage in fog, i bought them too add some coloration to the existing lighting. I would say in all the driving i do, only 5% is fog. If i wanted performance in fog, i would have went with a yellow 3000K bulb. The additional light output def makes driving safer and extend the light output on the sides of the car and the foreground.

BTW, out of those pics, the only two that inculde the fog lights are the output display on the road and the headlamp comparison, the rest are strictly projectors

So are you planning to switch out the stock HIDs for 6000K as well?

Those new HIDs are super bright.

The product i used was McCulloch 6000K 9006 HID plug and play kit. Great products, I have used/installed approx. 8 sets of these with about 1.5 years of no problems associated with them at all.
They are not really blinding because the angle that the project is underneath the lowbeam and there is no way to adjust the foglamp itself, rather the whole housing. It results in alot of foreground and peripheral lighting. They just add nice color to the headlamps.
As far as degree of brightness, remember the "K" rating is actually the opposite. The higher K rating i.e. 6000K, 8000K, 10000K means nothing except the coloration. The higher K rating, the actual lumens produced is lower. Your best light output for coloration swap is the stock 4300K.
IMO, anything higher than 6000K is overkill and adds too much color.

those pics do make the fogs look much bluer than they are. They are white with a hint of violet. They are so white, that they actually make the factory 4300's look yellow.

i was thinking about it, but after snooping around hidplanet.com, i found out that my best bet would be to ditch the 6000K D2S's and do the color mod to the projectors.
I have a set of McCulloch 6000K D2S's for sale now, I will let them go for $90 shipped if anyone wants them

i don't know if you mean bad is in not good, or bad as in good, so i will answer it both ways.
the pics of the cutoff on my garage were taken when the car was postiioned 150-200ft away to make the coloration more dramatic. The real cutoff line is still very sharp. I didn't add any washers, i just removed the bixenon positioning spacer.
see the linked thread with the info on hidplanet.com, everyone over there is very pleased with this color mod.

Will,
when you installed your HID fogs, where did you stash the ballast boxes?

My 300K HID setup will be here Thursday.
Thanks

i zip tied mine to the frame underneath the rear of the headlight. it is hard to describe and i didnt take any pics of it, but it is a great location. you can see them unless you take off the bumper and they are completely hidden from the elements due to the fenderliner. this is not my car below, but i grabbed and edited this pic. the location i mounted them in is the purple circle.

you really have to log onto HIDplanet.com to get a perfect visual and idea of what it is. it slightly changes the angle of the cut off shield to alter the "colors" that are given off by the beam cut off.
http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/view...1d8b9b2fb579bf

it is a relatively simple mod that thickens the color band and emits straight violet/purple/blue coloration.
