Modded 07 TL-S 6MT vs 07 G8 GT ($100 ON THE LINE)
So im at the track in Fayetteville, NC for freaky fridays, which is Thing around here every 1st Friday....Tons of CAR, GIRLS, MUSIC and more...
I was lazy to put my stock TL-S wheels on for the track, so I just left my 19's on and when to the track just for the hell of it...
Best time for the night was a 14.3 @ 99mph with a 2.2 - 60' (my personal best is 14.15 @ 100 with a 2.1 - 60' with my stock wheels)
long story short....I got approach by this dude wanting to race $$$....he had a G8 GT ALL STOCK. He wanted to race in the 1/4 BUT i refuse cuz I know for a fact that ill lose.
Sooo I suggested that it im going to race for cash, ill take my chances on the streets, The TL-S has a much better chance on the streets.
We agreed to run for $100, that all that i could afford to lose, so thats what it was.
Its about 1:15 in the morning on a 2 lane bypass highway with very little to no other cars on the road at that time of night/morning.
we did a 30 mph roll. who ever outruns who would be declaired the WINNER...& so it was ON!!!
We did the FAMOUS 3 honks at 30 mph & we were off...
He had me by a 3/4 car lenght at about 110 mph...
I pulled in closer by his fender AND it was time for me to shift into 5th...(THIS IS WHERE I LOST THE RACE)
I MISSED 5TH GEAR & THERE GOES MY $100...I LOST DUE TO DRIVER ERROR...
BUT we went ahead and did it a couple more times.
the 2nd time i got through all the gears nice and smooth & I ENDED UP PULLING HIM BY A CAR LENGHT FROM 30 MPH TO DAMN NEAR 140 MPH...
IF ONLY I DIDN'T MISS 5TH IN THE 1ST RACE...I WOULD HAVE BEEN A $100 RICHER

Nice, but I bet you would've done even better if you'd started at 20mph in 1st; you would've been right into vtec and likely gotten a stronger initial jump. Granted, you would've had an extra shift, but if you're good that's a moot point. Sucks that you're a c-note lighter, but at least you got a rush out of it.

Nice loss then a win bro! Was he manual or auto?
Also, with all those mods I would have expected you to be in the 13's? You said your best was 14.15, was that with all those mods or stock?
Either way, nice race!

I forgot to add that i deflated my tire pressure at the track to 15 PSI (the track is not the best around for traction)...& i forgot all about it...I prolly would have had a better run to 140 MPH with 35 PSI...
ALSO I HAD MY HEAVY AZZ 19's on the RIDE at the time.
AT...
think that the only trans option on the G8 GT's...Cuz i was thinkin bout getting 1 before i got the TL-S, but couldn't find 1 in 6MT.
Ur right, I should be in the 13's with my MODs, but the track is old & NOT in the best shape....I only run there cuz its the closest track here in town..only 15 min away...lol
pretty soon i'm going to take it down to the "ROCK" (Rockingham Dragway) which is only 45 min away..just never got around to it yet...This track is much more PREPed for RACING (as seen on PINKS)...
When i had my MODDED EVO8...i was only running 13.3's at the Fayetteville track...THEN i took it down to the ROCK & ran a 13 flat.... thats 3 tenths with the same MODs.
My shifting is always up to par...I guess I was somewhat nervous cuz $100 was on the line...

What do you think you'll run with those mods? on a good track that is.
I can't wait to have all the performance mods on my TL you got all the engine mods besides the supercharger lol

Nice kill on the G8, they are fast fukcers. I know anything can happen on the street but the G8 GTs are running consistent mid 13s @ 102-104..the slowest I saw on DragTimes was 14.0. If you pulled him by a car that makes sense considering the power you are putting down. Try a different track? You should see better times and traps for sure with that much power.

Good move to run him on the street from a roll. If he knows how to launch his car from a dead stop he'd beat you . . . but then again he could have messed up and you might have won. Anyway, good fun.

They are very fast for stock....which is what i told the owner right at the ATM while pulling out HIS $100 ..LMAO.....I also told him that with a CAI, exhaust & tune...my TL-S prolly won't stand a chance against his G8GT
BUT he was even more SUPRIZED at my TL-S....
I plan to take it down to "THE ROCK" (Rockingham Dragway in NC)...
I should break 13's down there....I ran .3 quicker at this track compared to the Fay. track when i had my EVO.
so i figured he'll run mid to high 13's ...
thats why i suggested to run on the highway from a roll.....
he really wanted from a dig, but i refused with $100 on the line.

Hey ARSE HOLE, then you should have figured it out before you ran your crappy 14.3@99MPH with the 19's. Pull them off and throw your stockies back on you little biatch.
Next time don't be a rude arse hole. change your tune!

I'm telling you acu-rate, come down to Charlotte for zMax. I'd love to see your TL in action November 4th is the last time it will be open to the public for the season. I'll be going
Btw, do you have the Comptech short shifter installed?

OP, The Rock is the place to run. Charlotte is a nice facility, but at Z-Max I had some decent bolt ons (Pulley, CAI, J-Pipe) and I still ran 0.3 faster at The Rock and that was basically stock. Temps were pretty much the same.
BTW, 15 PSI sounds WAY too low, even for poor track conditions. Won't the tires cup with so little pressure? If your tires cup, your losing even more traction. I'd think ~25 - 28 is about as low as you'd go with a steet tire.
Alex - YOU need to go to The Rock and post that time. BTW the NHRA 4 wide thing at Z-Max is just an exhibition/demonstration. Should be cool, but it doesn't count for anything.

Yay I got some support I know for a fact if I get the 60ft down I'll be putting up some good numbers, hopefully the new Invo's I just put on will make that happen (of course I gotta work on the launch as well)

As for the tire pressure, your prolly right, but I have better tractions with it low. I'll bump it up to 20-23psi when i take it to the ROCK, then go from there.
