Mixing Syn oil brands OK?

I bought a 5 quart container of Castrol Syn 10W-30. I only used 4 quarts on my old car. I want to "finish" the container but I'm planning to buy Mobil 1 syn 5 W -30. Is it OK to mix brands (same vis)?

Sure, why not? I do think that mixing similar viscosities is generally far more important than the brand of oil. You should be fine with your proposal.

Its a federal mandate that all oils are compatible etc. I personally wouldn't mix syn oil with dyno but wouldn't have an issue mixing different brands/weight of one or the other. Done it myself.
