missing feature on our TLs

Power folding mirrors.

The 04/05 Maximas have it, and I am sure alot more brands have this as well. This should be a simply feature to add.

This would benefit people who park on the streets. I have had the need to fold in my mirrors multiple times, which I don't mind doing. But most of the time I do that, I forget to pull them out; and I realize this once I am in the car ready for takeoff.

I have had folding mirrors on my cars for 16 years, and have never folded any of them yet. Not a real high priority for me.

yeah, It'd be "cool-to-have" but seriously how much use is it to average owner.
Makes car more complex & adds cost. oh and more costly to repair/replace.

A lot of the Japanese manufactures had added this to the car not for our benefit, but for shipping purposes. You can fit more cars on a ship and lessen the chances of damage if you can fold the mirrors. Nissan doing this on the 04 and 05's is most likely just a carry over as all Maximas are manufactured here as well. My wifes car, a 2000 Maxima SE has the folding mirrors(was built in Japan), but I've never folded them.

I'm not sure if it's really only for shipping purpose, due to the crowded streets/parking space out there and the potential damage by the impact, the folding mirrors seem very helpful.

If you park in the packed garage, it's good to fold your mirrors without getting hits by those busters.

If unfortunately the mirrors got hit by another car, the folding feature may reduce some impact and save itself. IMO.

My 2000 Maxima SE has manual. I wasn't aware that the 04 and 05 had power. Just the same though, the majority of the people wouldn't bother using them, so many manufactuers won't design them into the car. I'm sure that surveys are done by the manufactuers to find out what features the majority of buyers would like to see in the car. I personally don' think that power folding mirrors would be worth a couple of hundred extra added to the price of the car. I don't take my TL into NYC or even park next to other cars if I don't have to. I did the same with my past few cars. No ping dents that way.

It would be interesting to see how many of the Japanese cars that are manufactured for sale in Japan come with folding mirrors.

I can definately see where they could come in handy. As for them getting hit, it all depends how they were hit.

Back in the late 80's some Camry's were made in the US, other in Japan. The ones from Japan had folding mirrors, the US made cars did not.

makes no differnce to me if this feature was put on or not. The only time I've folded them is when I'm washing/cleaning the car itself.

I could have used this feature after one of my service appts. The dealer washed the car and the passenger mirror was folded. I didn't notice it until I had to pass on the right. It was an adventure trying to get over. I had to pull into a gas station and manually move it back. I would like the feature.

My vote is for:
1) AWD option
2) 300+ HP version
3) fold-down back seats
