Mirror surface rusting
Both mirrors (2005) have quarter sized pieces of the surface missing, almost looks like a rust spot.
Can the glass portion of the mirrors be replaced or do you have to buy a complete mirror?

I had to replace mine recently. They're cheap ~ $22 each iirc. Pop off, unplug the heater connector and reverse for the new ones.
edit...$35 each. I swear I paid less than that!

1. Turn the car on
2. Choose the side of the mirror that you want to replace on the mirror controller. Control the mirrors direction until the mirror is facing all the way in like if you were to trying to look at the whole side of your car.
3. From here just keep pushing the mirror inward the same direction the motor was pushing it.
4. You will now be able to see the inside of the rearview mirror.
5. Grab a flat head screw driver and slip it behind the mirror where the black plastic braket is holding it.
6. Grow some balls and pry it apart the mirror will pop out just disconnect the heated mirror plug.
7. Now place the plug on the new one and push the new one back on.
8. Its very easy the steps are just very detailed to make sure you can handle it. PM if you really need any more help

I have the same rust spot on my '08 and have never used the mirror defroster. I plan to take it in and have replaced under warranty.
