Question MID 'Service Due Soon B' ?

I've searched the forums but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so I'm asking ya'll :p

First of all, my oil life < 15%, so I know it is time for an oil & filter change. But the message on my MID says "Service Due Soon B". I looked in the manual and saw that not only does B mean to replace oil and filter but it also says I should:

-rotate tires
-inspect front and rear brakes
-check parking brake adjustment
-inspect these items:
-tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots
-suspension components
-driveshaft boots
-brake hoses and lines
-all fluid levels and condition of fluids
-exhaust system
-fuel lines and connectors

Ok... I just purchased this '04 'Acura Certified Preowned' 2 months ago and have put about 2k miles on it since.. right now it has about 42k miles on it. The tires were new when I got it and I'm sure they checked all of this stuff also. So basically, do I really need to spend the money to check all of this? Because I certainly don't think so... I think I just need the oil & filter change.

Also, the dealer said it would be about total $40 + tax for the oil change ... and the place I went with my old car is about $30 + tax. Should I go to Acura to get it done or the other place or does it even matter?

What do you guys think? Any help would be... helpful

Or you can do your own oil+filter change & save money.

Mine is up for "B" service too. I'm just having them change the oil and check the brakes. I can do everything else myself. I don't want to deal with disposing the oil.

Besides, I get a kick out of watching the mechanics and sales people drool over my car everytime I come in.

You can go to any mechanic or shop-- one that you know and trust would be best!
We have an independent Honda specialist and an import shop that take care of our cars. My car hasn't been to the dealer since I drove it away when new, and the shops I know all charge much less than the dealer, for everything.

Good F'n luck with that. CPO just means they charge you more. It a total crap shoot whether the dealership *actually did* the CPO inspections/work.
