MID Screen

When you get low on oil shouldn't the cars mid automatically show service due soon? When its low I hold the select button then it chimes and show Service Due. Is this how it suppose to work? What is Service A or B due Soon? I thought the car was suppose to tell you when it needs to be serviced

I think if you would take the time to read the manual all of your questions would be answered. That being said, the MID has nothing to do with the level of oil in the engine. That level should be determined by observing the correct level on the dipstick. The MID calculates when your oil should be changed which is a measure of the quality of the oil, not the quantity.

It does....when your oil life reaches a certain level the message will be displayed. Check your manual for the corresponding codes. "A" is for an oil change, if it says "A1", then it means an oil change and tire rotation.

no gripes from me, but it's rather funny to have a sophisticated monitoring system, voice activated controls, and still the darn things returns cryptic codes like "A" or "A1". why don't it just display "oil change due" or "tire rotation".

and "oil life", what a arbitrary gesture. are cars in Canada programmed differently from cars in Texas? each climate works the oil differently, contaminents sludge up differently, are the cars programmed differently or is the MID programmed for worse case scenario, or some where in the middle ???

for me, MID is just a fancy idiot light (hey, i put new oil in my car and the MID dropped 10%, i just dont get that, why?). hey Honda, skip the MID and fix the vibration issues.

Did you reset the MID? It should read 100% after you reset it, because you changed the oil. It starts out at 100% and goes down until you are again due for an oil change.

I get to use my new picture for the first time.

nice mug, points for you. resetting is not my question. why would the MID read any less after a oil change. it should not, MID should think it's the same 'ol oil as before. actually, the MID knows nothing about the oil, it uses other data to guesstimate about oil life.

i then did reset the MID, and reset worked as it says in the manual, changed the # from 50% to 100%, whatever that means.
