Yeah, Vette's are low to the ground...would make that Firebird seem like a 4X4...like my dad's old Z. Mustang's are easy access.

You are not crazy.

Which one will make you happier, the TL or the 'Stang? Then go get it.

I'd go for a Porsche but I am not laying out that kind of money for a whim...lol.

I really like the TL but have always wanted a convertible. I love driving this car but have never really owned a "sports car". In the 2½ years I have owned the TL the only bad thing I can say about it is that, like many have mentioned, it does have more buzzes and rattles than a car of it's pedigree should have. Plus I have a 6 year 100,000 mile extended warranty on the car...which will give me worry free driving for the next 3½ years or so.

I'm thinking this is only a whim and that I will come to my senses.....lol.

I would go for a 350z 2007 with the new engine. Not a GT Mustang. It looks like a Porsche, very fast, handles awesome, and a looker. Also reliable.

Now step up to the Cobra which has independant rear suspension and that car should easily out handle the TL.

Funny thing was my brother really liked my car and I liked his. But, they really are totally different cars with totally different markets. Sure there is SOME cross over but, really totally different cars.

Hmm last I heard from the Cobra SVT of last years body style to this body style it has IRS now. It is no longer Solid.

Yeah thats why I mentioned the Cobra it has IRS. My brothers Mach 1 did not. it had a straight rear axle.

I didn't know though that it was still selling thousands above sticker.

pimpin-TL,

Yes the 350Z is really nice. It was one of the 10 cars I test drove when I decided on my 2005 TL.

I really liked the car....very powerful, great handling, looks great, etc.

But here is why I did not buy one back then:

1) To get it loaded with everything the TL has or what the Mustang would have, the price soars into the low 40,000s.

2) While I was comfortable sitting in it and driving it, I felt a bit claustrophobic.

3) I test drove the convertible with the roof up, and visibility from the rear was absolutely horrible. It was bad enough to render the rear view mirror vitually useless. Made me feel like I had no idea what was going on behind me for traffic.
Maybe the 2007s are better (but they are also more expensive than they were 2 years ago). I might still take a look at one.

They say it's a 4 passenger car but that's a joke, even the munchkins from the Wizard of OZ could not fit in it's back seat.

There is no question the Mustang GT is more powerful....I test drove one when I was looking for cars when I bought my TL. And it does handle better than the TL because of rear wheel drive, although Winter would be an adventure. As with all powerful front wheel drive cars, the TL suffers from torque steer.

There is no doubt that the TL is a better overall car then the Mustang GT. But that doesn't mean the Mustang GT is chopped liver either !

Yes, exactly winter would be terrible, I don't think very many people drive their convertibles in the winter, I'd imagine the top would ruin under heavy snow.
