Question MID Keyless Memory Setting question

This is likely an easy one. Just got my TL a week back and was trying to change my keyless memory settings. But when I press the select button for the MID window, it says "customizing not allowed until linked with remote". Couldn't find any instructions on "linking the remote" in the manuals. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Turn the key on in the car and do the thing where you push the two buttons at once on the fob. Go to the Owner's Link at www.acura.com and select the Technical Info tab, then Keyless Entry for a short video that explains it.

If all else fails, RTFM.

Exclamation Details

A little more detail: When you go to www.acura.com, go to the Owner Link > My TL > Techinical Information (you might need to register your VIN if you haven't done it yet.)

Then, there is a video on the Keyless Memory System which lasts about 4 minutes. It says that to link your key fob, you need to have the key on and be in Park (or neutral) with handbrake on. Then you press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. Those instructions are printed on the bottom of the fob. If the little red LED on the fob blinks once, it is linked. If it blinks twice, it isn't.

That's all I know. I haven't done it yet because my car isn't here yet.

You don't have to have the key on or be in park or neutral to link your key fob. You don't even have to be anywhere near the car. Just press the lock and unlock button at the same time (no matter where you are), and when the light blinks twice, the fob is linked. Then you can turn the ignition on, go to the MID, and make your changes.

You don't have to be in park or neutral either. That is only when you are using the memory seat buttons to adjust the seat, etc. To move the seat, for A/T the shift lever has to be in park, for M/T the park brake has to be on.

OK maybe it didnt help.. I tried it about 30 times and couldnt get it linked. Still came up with the "customizing not allowed until linked with remote". It would blink once, twice, car was parked, even tried handbrake and nothing. still gives me the error. My wifes does work, but not mine.

It should only blink once to show it is linked. If it blinks twice, that means it is not linked and you will get the error notice. Press the lock and unlock button at the same time so that it only blinks once, and then you are linked.

If this doesn't work, something is wrong somewhere and you should check with the dealer.
