MID DRL Error

So I am curious as to what the error looks like that you get on the MID if you disable your DRL's or if you were to put LED's in as your DRL's. I tried looking for a pic of this, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have a pic of this on their TL? I have an 08, but I guess a pic of any year TL that has the DRL light error on would work. Thanks guys!

I don't have a picture but all it says is DRL by the gas gauge if I am correct. All you have to do is go under the hood and unplug one of your drl's and see what it looks like. If you look at the gauge at a correct angle you will also see where the cut out for the DRL light is. The MID I am pretty sure doesn't say anything.

MID won't say anything, there is a DRL light below the tach on the 08's, there is also a harness made by I believe iJDM toys that is supposed to eliminate this problem when going to LED DRL's

Hmm, if it's only a little light to look at I may just pull the fuse and see what it looks like. I think I heard about the harness or something similar when going to LED's, but even then it was a hit or miss getting the light to go out for some people.

Not quite what you were asking for, but I snapped this photo quickly when I had to go somewhere. It at least shows you where the light is located that would be illuminated if you disconnect your DRLs. Like RainSupreme mentions there is multiple companies that sell harnesses to get rid of it.

I can take a pic, but my car's an 04 so the guages looks a little different.

It is illuminated orange.

Mine DRL icon turns on when I start my car and turns off after I disengage the handbrake.
Do you use your handbrake?

And before people ask, I have a Canadian TL so we have DRLs.

Ok, I found the harness you were talking about, but which one do you go with? There are 5 different ones to choose from.
http://store.ijdmtoy.com/LED-Daytime...decoder-01.htm

And I guess these are only used in the instance that you buy LED's? So if you wanted to keep your stock bulbs, but wanted them off and no DRL light on the dash none of these harnesses would work?

Looks like R3 is for the 07/08 Acura TL.

Now someone else would have to let you know how to install a switch, but are you trying to install a switch to turn them on and off or something? Or you keeping the stock bulbs as a place holder and just having them always off?

No, I don't use the handbrake in my car because it's an auto Is there some special trick having to do with the hand brake and the light?

I have an auto, but I use the handbrake everytime I park

Whenever you park your car and set the handbrake, the next time you start it up, the DRL will not turn on and hence the DRL icon will show.
As soon as you disengage the handbrake, the DRL turns on, hence the DRL icon will disappear.

Try it out

My original plan was to maybe just pull the fuse so they would be off all the time and then the light would be illuminated on the dash. If there is no fix for that, it's cool, but if there is I could always try.
Second option was to go the whole DRL route and get the correct harness and see if that works.
Most likely I was going to disable the original setup and leave the light on the stay illuminated on the dash since it's not that big of a light and I probably wouldn't even pay attention to it. Now if it was something annoying that would keep popping up on the MID, like when you have low fuel, I wouldn't bother touching the DRL's at all.

Lol, I'm an ass, it says R3 right on the page, for some reason I decided to skip that section.

Hmm, I wonder why the car was designed this way?

Cool, thanks for the pic GP16. It's funny, you could just think of it as it is the DRL light is illuminated even though the light is on because there is a problem, lol.

i have the harness from ijdmtoy, and i GUARANTEE if you let me install it you will not get an error code. there's no "hit or miss" its just people installing them improperly or not buying the correct harness. its very specific as to which wire to plug into.
