Metallized tint and NAVI? HOW BAD?
Hi everybody....I'm looking into getting tints on my baby, and I really really really love the way metallized tints look with black cars, especially NBP. However, I got NAVI, and metallized tints are forbidden with it supposedly.
Are there any of you out there that have metallized tints with the NAVI? Any problems?
I'm basically looking for a high quality, very reflective, almost mirror like tint. Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Where in Massachusetts are you from? Cuz often when I see another TL i wonder if i've talked to the driver of that car here on Acurazine
Regarding the tint, I agree with the metallic tint looking very nice on the black, however cops in the state of mass are pretty ridiculous and strict about anything from window tint to headlights

Massachusetts is one of those states were nothing is allowed. Just like where I live. Mmm...what do they have in common. I know Democrats. You can do anything you want as long as it is what THEY want! Maybe I should have bought a Prius...maybe then I could go a dark tint on my windows! Of course government knows what is best for us.
I don't understand what the difference is between the dark and light metallic tints. It was my understanding that they have the same amount of metal in them but just that they changed the die to make the darker one darker. Anyone know the real deal? My experience with metallic tints have been that they last WAYYYY longer than the other ones but they also kill the range on my radar detector.

I have limo tint in the back and have had several problems with the NAVI being inaccurate. I don't know if it's related to it or not but I have had some problems with it. Anyone else.

Had 20% Llumar Stealth on mine and had ZERO problems with NAVI at the time. However, it was too dark and I now have 35% all the way aroud. Still not a NAVI problem at all. All these have metallic content as I understand it.

Yes I'd like the website please.
The tinter near me carries "platinum" tint (not sure what brand). Anybody have Nav with this type of tint and no problems?
Massachusetts is 35% all around btw.

I have Suntek brand 30% Metallic Tint all around, and no problems with Navi, Integrated Radio Antenna, or Defoggers. I'm pretty sure the thing about metallic tints interferring with Navi and such, is just urban legend... My other cars have 30% SolarGaurd Metallic Tints, and they don't have problems either.
Whatever you do, stay away from the dye-tinted variety. Those are crap, and will fade/turn purple over time.

On the story of massachusetts. I used to have a 95 camry with 25% tint all around except the winsheild (which was much lighter). I never got bothered by a cop once about it (although I'd only been pulled over once so maybe thats why they never bothered me). Anyways, a couple of years ago I had to get the tint removed cuz the place I went to wouldn't let it pass inspection which really sucked cuz the car looked awesome with the tint. What I didn't understand is the car had passed inspection in the same place the previous few years. Maybe the state got tougher in the past couple of years or maybe the inspection guy just stopped overlooking it?

I think I might just go for it, and get the metallic tint...if I have problems with the Navi I'll just remove it.
Does anybody know of a metallic tint that has a blue reflective sheen to it? The platinum tint I have on my old car looks sweet but has a greenish hue to it.
Any suggestions?

MN allows 50%. Actually, the 50% formula one pinnacle looked about as dark as the 35% mettalic as far as shade.
If you want to be safe, put the mettalized on the side windows and the ceramic on the back.
I'm waiting for the 2 rebates from the 2 V600's I bought this weekend to show up, then I'll be have 50% Formula One Pinnacle put all the way around.

Blue tint is gay, like a Mercedes? I think blue looks weird.
I have blackish 32% Solarguard metallic, and I have no problems with Navi or XM. I have travelled 3 states recently using the navi.

The only thing that I noticed is a slight reduction in the AM reception. The Navi has not been effected at all.
20% black metallic tint all the way around.
