the dealer says we can have the driver seat set so that it backs up automatically to the farthest position so that it makes it easier to sit in the vehicle and then reset for the passenger

 

dealer lied to you.

the only way that is possible is to use both memory seats on the door.
set driver 2 at furthest position. then set driver 1 to your seating position.

EVERYTIME you want to get it, you will have to click driver 2 on door or use driver 2 keys. then once you are in, hit driver 1 button

 

Also to note...if the seats went all the way back, it would quite possibly make it more difficult to enter and exit. Those seats are low and slick, and when back all the way, you just kind of sink into the car.

 

Technically the dealer is NOT lying to you, the feature can be turn on by trading your TL for a TLX which have this feature.
