Mazdaspeed 3 Vs. '04~'08 Acura RL

Well, this wasn't really that good of a race but I'm just posting what happened anyway... I caught a late model Acura RL at the light. I stopped next to him and turned off my VSC. I gave it a little bit of revving 2.5k rpm before launch. He realized I was on it and as soon as the light turned green we took off. Luckily I had a strong launch (7 out of 10 times I screw up). Beat him by an half car length to 32 mph and I was several cars ahead by 70+ mph on 3rd. He was pretty close to me from the launch but as I pulled him hard at higher speeds he realized my car is faster so he gave up on the run. Maybe he doesn't know how to launch his car, it's an AWD isn't it? should be easy to launch. I wasn't really expecting to beat any cars other than some vehicles like Honda CR-V or some 4 cyl Camry from dig though.

Are you modded at all?

You are right they are AWD. Maybe he had a bad launch, who knows. Nice kill tho. In reality, they are low 15 second cars @ 92-94, so sounds about right that you pulled him hard after 30. Have you been to the track yet?

Cuz on every kill thread he says the same thing. It's classic and was pointed out by a fellow member. So I thought it was funny

I have heard stories of the RL being a monster at highway speeds, but then I look at the 92-94mph trap speeds and I have a hard time believing it.

I have a hard time believing that the RL is a highway monster too. Its no slouch but the AWD with almost 4000lbs of weight and only 300hp I don't see it being a top end beast.

I wish the RL was a highway monster, I'd consider getting it after the TL, honestly. It's a great car but not enough power

People thinking of getting the RL shouldn't even be worried of how fast it is or can be.

i'd buy the RL strictly for what its made for. style and comfort..

the AWD was meant for a better handling vehicle.. not a better launch in the 1/4....
nobody should buy one with racing in mind IMO.

the RL has strong pick up in its 3rd Gear. Everyone says it is hard to believe but it is possible.

That it does but it doesn't compare to a 6SPD TL in 3rd or even 4th for that matter. I don't feel its possible for a RL Auto to hang with a 6MT TL.

Maybe in that one instance but in general, an RL would be VERY hard pressed to run even with an 04-06 TL 6MT.

keep waiting. we already know your answer to each response

from a dig: "its RWD and of course its gunna win"
from a roll: "the ms3 has boost cut so races should start around 90mph in 3rd gear for it to be fair"
