May buy a high mileage Type S....questions
So I found a higher mileage TL S
Clean carfax and it has decent maintenance records. it has 166k miles and its black on black.
looks like timing belt/water pump was done at 123k as well as brakes and rotors.
oil and filter done every 10k also.
I can get it for $9800 OTD.

Yeah I feel it's a good deal, the dealership said he bought it just to sell it, but it seems to run good. Automatic transmission. No accidents and it's very clean in the pics.
I used to live in Ravenna Ohio btw! Now down in south Alabama.

Dealer bought it just to sell it? What else do they do with cars?

Appears this could be a pretty good buy. Always hard to tell based off of small pictures, but some of the small things that can be dead giveaways of a wreck all check out ok. Since all I have to go off of are small pictures posted above, I look to see if the rear trunk emblems are located in the correct spot which they are. I have seen cars that have been rear ended and shops put emblems in the wrong places often (even if it's just slightly off, I notice). The car has the correct type s front bumper. Believe it or not its common to see a type s with a base model front bumper on after a wreck. They are similar in many ways, but are different. This one has the correct bumper. Exhaust tips seem to be aligned good. I have seen some cars with very misaligned tips. Who knows what that car went through for that to happen. One owner with a pretty nice service history with complete timing belt service. Tons of miles, but for the price not bad at all.
Obviously you need to still look into the car more and drive it, but that's about all the assistance I can offer from here.

Yeah my main concern is... It's 4 hours away. So it's a buy it and take a chance, or pass type of deal. The tls in my area aren't going for cheap. I want 07-08 and type s isn't required. But ones under 100k dealers won't budge they want 16-19k I'm trying for 15k OTD.
I can pick up a 07 335i for what some dealers want for the 07 tl. The tl s are 19+ for ones under 100k

The one thing that looks screwy to me is that according to the Carfax, is that it was serviced in Connecticut in May of 2010 only a few days after being titled in Alabama and the same day an Alabama registration was issued. Suppose it's possible, but looks odd.....

When I was buying mine carfax said 3 owners.
First owner when car was leased.
Second when it was financed even though it was same owner.
Third was selling dealership.
I work with original owner for same company.
Now carfax probably says 4 even though I am second owner.
