In the Market for '07 TL-S question??
hello, let me first introduce myself as a new member in this forum. My name is Bao, live in PA. I used to own a 03 RSX-s and recently totaled it and currently in the search for a new car and the TL-s just caught my eyes instantly.
anyways, into the fun stuff!!
I'm very new with this car and i've been doin research about it for the passed 2 weeks about specs and recalled about the car.
However, I've scheduled a test drive for tomor and I was just wonderin what should i pay attention for during the drive in order to know that i'm gettin the best bang for my bucks? It's an 07 TL-s auto with 103k miles
Any Input would be appreciated,
Thanks

~105k miles is a major service interval. It's the Timing Belt and Water Pump and can run as much as $800 - $1200 depending on the dealer.
Make sure this has been done OR the price is discounted to reflect this upcoming cost.
Also have a VIN Search done (just call a dealer and tell them you're thinking of buying and need the recall and TSB history) and check for all recalls and any open TSB's.

Since it's over 100k, they probably will offer you 0 days warranty. So, you might like to do like I did: demand they let you take it elsewhere for an inspection. I found out back brakes needed done IMMEDIATELY without delay, and thus demanded extra $250 off the price to cover that. (In addition to belt and water pump...)
My biggest advice seeing I just purchased one myself not too long ago is....TAKE YOUR TIME....research research research and since your in PA look all over the Tri State as well or if Ohio is closer. Depending on your price range look around for quite a bit and try to find one with the least amount of mileage that you can afford. The look is worth the wait because there are some gems out there just waiting to be uncovered. MY two cents....
Some good advice ^^ Take your time and find what you want. If this car is okay, then go for it. I recently got an email from Acura about the power steering hose recall. Make sure that was done, or get it done ASAP!! Good luck.
"tighten fuel cap" seems to be pretty common. On the navigation, there will be a little envelope. Press on it and it'll show you the different messages the car has thrown out. Unless the dealer deleted them. I've had my TLs for a month and a half. Driven it about 2500 miles and the only problem I've had with it was a dead battery and the tighten fuel cap message
Im in the same boat bro...looking for A 2007-2008 tl-s, just trying to be patient.
Cant find many my way that arent close to 25k(wich i dont want to pay) lol
I have a 2003 tl-s now which i am in love with.
But deff take some time and go over everything in the car, Make sure the sunroof works and make sure the mirrors do too.
I found a tl-s and the sunroof didnt work, as did mine when i brought mine but it was covered.
and check mirrors cause it seems like people arent careful and they fall off and the dealer just leaves them their.
The 07 i was gonna buy the mirror just fell off when i moved it to back up.
The little things count too, and cost more than expected.
So be careful and patient.
Good luck with the search, hope we both find a good 1.

I was pretty much in the same situation like you 2 years ago. Had a 02 RSX-S and just wanted something different. Found a 6MT 2007 TL-S that was CPO.
Tighten Fuel Cap had to be done, also the power steering hose leak. I also had some oil leaking from my oil pump, but I got Acura Care and that was replaced.

thanks everyone, i'm really appreciate the input.
so here's a update, i went for a test drive today, it is a good car, nice handling. make me feel as if i was in my RSX but more comfy/luxury (maybe even too much tech for me). However, i'm a little disappointed on how the paddle shifter performs. i didn't like the delay that it has when switchin gear. I haven't decide what to do yet but as up to now, i really want to try out the manual to see if it has a significant difference b/t the two.
idk if anyone on here have anything to say about the manual compare to the auto so i'll get an idea be4 drivin 3 hrs away to test drive one? lol
^^ yup, that's her.

let me put it this way.
AT put down 230 WHP and MT put down 250 WHP on the dyno.
MT top speed limited at 155 MPH, AT limited at 130 MPH.
MT 3rd gear and 4th gear pulling is crazy versus AT 4th gear very slow.
0-60 mph 5.5 sec MT (5.7 with Road and Track test), 5.8-6.1 sec for AT.
14.0 seconds flat with MT, AT achieve 14.3
over all MT is a different animal versus AT but some members here like my case that someone else in the family need to use the car but they can't dive MT so we end up get AT instead. If I was single then I would buy an MT TL-S instead. The reason there are delay between shifting with paddle shifting because its not a truth DSG. But also let me remind you that MT Type S gona cost you extra even at higher mileage than a AT, good luck finding one let me know how it turn out. BTW, are you talking about MT TL-S in CT and MA? I saw there are two listing near me that has MT lol. One of the listing actually owned by a member here.

I've had my 07 since it had 79,000 miles. Today it was almost 130,000. The only problems i've had are:
Tighten Fuel Cap Message
Nav Drive in Trunk Died
1 Tire Pressure Sensor
Also the car just suddenly turned off while driving once...but that hasn't happened in over 6 months so I'm not too worried.

Id have to agree with many, I'm assuming from "The Electric City" you live in Scranton? I live near Wilkes-Barre myself and I know I searched for my car for 3 months, and ended up driving the the outskirts of DC to get mine (granted I was in search of the coveted 6 speed) but in the end, make sure you do your research and don't snatch the first one that shows up if its not a good deal
I myself have only had a bit of weird behavior from the TPMS when it has been cold, other than that it has been rock solid
then again im only at 38k

I'm new here as well -- just bought an 07 TL Type-S this week in Atlanta. 96K miles, AT, completely stock. Seems to be in great shape mechanically and on the exterior. Interior is a little worn for a 5-6 year old car, but not terrible.
Traded in my 07 Civic Si 4Dr Navi to get the TL. My wife was just never going to learn how to drive a stick and we really needed to be able to swap off cars. The Type-S at least makes it pretty fun to drive an auto
I negotiated price down to cover cost of doing the timing belt in few months and a few other odds and ends, but the asking price of $18K was already pretty reasonable in comparison to the other 07/08 TL's I looked at around the city. Most were asking between $19 and $24K depending on mileage and color. The dealer I bought from had been asking $20K for about a month, then dropped the price over the weekend to get it out of inventory.
So based on my experience, other than looking at basic mechanics/leaks/etc, I would make sure the Navi disc is there and working, that you get two working keys, and that all the manuals are in the glove box. Good luck!
