Maintenance minder reset itself?

The maintenance minder reminding me to service soon was on for close to 2 weeks. I haven't had the time to get the service done. Anyway, this morning, I noticed that the reminder did not come on when I started the car. Checking oil life showed 100% . I know I don't have amnesia and the new oil and filter are still in my trunk . So what gives? Anyone seen/heard of this before?

Never heard of this, and it is hard to reset it accidentally. You need to push and hold the select button for 10 seconds, then it asks you if you are sure, and then you need to press and hold for another 10 seconds. Don't have any idea why this happened, but if there is no logical explanation then you may have a faulty MID and you need to see the dealer to get it checked out.

Even if it was working it wouldn't tell you the oil level was low. That's what the low oil level icon means when it comes on, but by then it's probably too late.

That's not what it means. What it indicates is the amount of life you have left on your current oil change. It will constantly move towards zero....zero indicating you have used up the servicable life of the oil and need to get it changed. You then reset the indicator and it starts all over at 100%.
