MA dealerships

We are hopefully purchasing the TL in the next 6 months. My dads car is starting to die, and by that I mean stalling out in the driveway. What are peoples experiences with dealerships in MA, which ones did you use. We live 3 miles from Acura of Boston. We may also look at Clair Acura. We would get 5at and navi. color wise most likely one of the shades of silvers, probably anthrasite, and ebony. Any input would be great. My dad is a real deal hunter. 1-2k could make the diff between getting this car and not. So if you dont mind disclosing the price that would be great too.

Acura of Boston is where I got mine. Debbie Robertson was my sales rep and was a pleasure to work with. She gave me the price I wanted in 30 minutes. I have not had a problem with them at all either in the service dept.

Thanks, my uncle got his there too. My dad is trying for no more then 33500 with Nav. Is it true you can get a better deal in the winter, and how often is that?

My dad bought his TL and my TSX from Acura of Peabody and within the next few months, my mom is getting an MDX. We're happy with them and the service department seems to be good. Good Luck!

P.S. - The TL is an 05 non-navi.. i can't recall the exact price but I remember my dad being satisfied with it.

No Way (I hope). In a nutshell. My dad has never spent more then 15-18k on a car. He can afford it, hes a pretty good lawyer, but claims he doesnt care much for cars. I have no idea what else he spends it on. My mom finally told him he needs something nice, he is a shofur to clients and a ford taurus that the song piece of shit car is probably based off does not leave a good impression, she also wants him to get something nice for himself. Either way, we got him to a test drive so far so I guess things are looking up. Im on the 18th page of my pursuasive essay and am also making a power point presentation. I have heard less people want a new car in the winter and that the dealer is more desperate to sell. His ford is going to die in the next few months, guarenteed. The dealer sort of hinted at about 33500 with navi, but they didnt go that in depth. He basically said in the winter we can get you pretty close to invoice with navi. Thanks for everyones help.

I paid $33,129 for my 04 TL with NAV at Acura of Boston. It was special ordered due to the WDP/Quartz combo I wanted.

Hi crazy,

I got my car for under 31700 out-the-door at acura of boston (non-navi) right after christmas. Clair Acura offered invoice. Acura of boston price was with little haggling, clair acura price with with no haggling. I know that I got lucky with very good end-of-year timing during my purchase (the dealer said the price was contingent upon picking a car on the lot).

I pretty much contacted every acura dealer in new england, and of all the ones that gave me quotes, clair, acura of boston, and one or two in CT were priced significantly better than everyone else who offered a number. Some internet managers were unwilling to offer numbers (which is kind of strange in a way but I guess they don't want to be shopped around).

The internet manager at clair is a very good guy -- no bs, no pressure, good to talk to. Would've felt very comfortable buying from him if AofB didn't blow away every other competitor by accepting an under-invoice offer.

I haven't had any service yet, so I'm not so sure which dealer is best for service (although you could go to any).

Also 33500 for navi in boston is easy to get. You should be able to get that at clair/boston instantly. I'd shoot for 33000 or lower. You could probably get that price today too (no need to wait till next winter unless you want to)

No service is good!! Those prices seem reasonable, very reasonable. Thanks. Things are looking up with those as the prices. This forum has really been a help. I wonder if they will let me in during the bargaining process. He is used to having his cars constantly serviced so this should be a nice turn around. I am sick of being the only person within a square mile without a nice car(extremely materialistic but c'mon, im a kid!!)

Got mine at Clair Acura. Ask for Scott. He's terrific. Very knowledgeable but low pressure. If your dad is balking at the price, wait until he get's the excise tax bill.

I know some people's experience differs but...

As for service this place could not cut it. They caused 3 dent to my trunk on a service and when I tried to drop off the car at 7:30 am for a 90 minute service and asked to be able to get it by 3:00 they gave me the you got a loaner car and said we guarantee the car is ready by 5:30. Now I made an appointment for early AM. Sure I got a loaner but I do not need my car there all day.

So no call and I get there at 5:00 and ask where the car is... Not ready yet. I was like WTF they have never been like this before. Sure enough the car is ready by 6 and it is dark out. I got it home and there are 3 dents on the trunk and the bumper is perfect. Sure they fixed it, took over a week and I wanted a new trunk lid why they wanted to smooth it out. Even the service manager said holy shit when he saw it.

There is one smart ass service writer there... a Mr. Badcock...LOL what a name huh.. I wanted to ask him after his sarcasm how all the little badcocks were doing, but I figure the name is punishment enough.

There is a new sales guy there name brian. He is younger but easy to talk to and know about the car. They were doing 1500 off list as a promo in january. You can figure that can come off pretty easy, but ask for another grand or so off the car. There is about 2500 in profit on the car without hold backs or acura incentives. So, ask away go to one of the auto web sites and print it out, or see if they will show you the invoice .

I found the maintenace service better at clair acura in Walpole. The sales was ok as well the delievery was another thing. They never prepped either car I bought there properly. Something was left off. Simple stuff mind you but I did not want to go back to get some things done.

The salesman told me in 00 that the CL S models with the front license plate attached are the ones ready for delivery. I wanted one that did not have one on it. I only have one plate so I took off the holder after I picked up the car and found that some paint was scraped off the front bumper. This meant they did not give a shit about it at all. The person has to see the mark there (probably from shipping).

You got to roll the dice and hope for the best. I know the sales guys like to hussle and sell but I think it is nice if they go out and check over the car with a fine tooth comb before they hand over the keys to their customers...

Try Acura of Boston, and ask for Darryl. He was my salesperson, and I got my 04TL 6MT/Nav ABP for about $33500 back in Aug 04. They didn't even have it in stock, and it was a fresh built one week away, so it's not like it's got any color/instock discount.

I bought my 05 5AT Navi from Acura of Peabody. As you will see from my profile I live in NH but it was worth the trip to Peabody as they were priced the best and were not a P-I-T-A dealer to deal with.

the thing to do....

I went in with two of my buddies and we bought 3 cars... It was funny since when I did this the guy did not know what was going on ... each person was able to talk the car up or down and then we were all in on the haggling over the car.

In the end the guy sold 3 cars. It made his day...

simple

if you pay 33k for the wheels (all cash no trade) you have to pay 1650 bucks in sales taxes.

Massachusetts charges 25 bucks per every 1000 of assessed value per year.

So figure on maybe 700 on a new car assessing about 28K of its values vs 33.

So first year cash deal you pay over 2300 bucks for taxes...

They could go higher. I am waiting for mine on two 05 cars... For me it is tax deductible so it will not be as big of a hit but...

I dont know if this is good news or bad news. Tommorow we will be going back to argue the price on a dodge magnum. I think the RT AWD, hey its got a hemi. Although this car is for my mother in exchange for the minivan it may lower our chances of buying another new car soon . On one hand I hope we get it, on the other I hope they decide to just keep the minivan. Ill keep you posted. Until I know for a fact that we are not getting the TL i will stay at this forum. THanks for everyones help!

I just bought a 05 Tl w/ Navi in Auburn. I talked to someone (via phone or e-mail)at Peabody, Boston, Framingham, Sunnyside (NH) and Finally Auburn. If you buy off the lot, everyone quoted me arounf 32,970 or less (approx. $2,500 of MSRP). Sunnyside of NH quoted me $100 over invoice (32,673)! I ended up in Auburn because they are my local dealer and gave me a few upgrades. Paid $32,935 with wheel locks and extended 1 year / 12 month warrany (piece of mind).

BTW... If you buy Feb 17 - 22, you also get 3.29% APR up tp 60 mo. for the presidents day sale. Good luck!!

Alright, thread revival. We are going to be purchasing our TL very soon, probably by saturday. I would like to know what are the deals people have gotten at AoB, preferbly recently, so I can know what to expect from them, and also, the salesman if available. Thanks. We will be getting a 5mt with Nav 05(they have quite a few of the color combo we want on the lot).

I purchaed my TL from Acura Peabody in 6/05. They originally wanted me to pay 33,500 for an Anthracite AT w/Navi. They include splash guards and wheel locks with all TLs on the lot.

That was an OK deal, but not great (compared to what I've seen on this board). So I submitted an on-line quote to Acura of Boston throught their website. I lowballed and was very surprised to receive a call back from Sam Davis (their Internet Sales rep) accepting my Bid of $32,500 for the same vehice - $1000 less than AoP.

I took that back to Acura of Peabody and with a little help from my sales rep (who was great - name is Brian), the GM lowered the price to $33,000. I went with Acura of Peabody because, after the mud flaps and wheel locks their price was now only $300 more than Boston's. Acura of Peabody is less than a mile from my office - to qualify for loaners from AoP, you need to have purchased your vehicle from them (standard practice for all dealers?). This alone was worth the extra $300 to me. Not to mention the service preference, etc that you get when you go tACK o the dealer you purchased from.

My advice. Submit internet quotes to the closest 3 dealers and use the lowest qoute to get Acura of Boston down. Try submitting an on-line "get a quick qoute" with Acura of Boston (Via AoB's web site) - submit $32,500 and see if they bite. They will call you back within the day to say yes or no. When they do, make sure the price includes destination charges (i.e. does the price cover everything except tax, reg and title?). At the end of the day, with Acura of Boston being closer, you'll want to buy from them for convenience going when service/a loaner is needed. Use other local dealer's prices to drive them down (you don't even need to travel to the other dealers - just submit an internet quote).

I purchased my 05 TL 6 speed/Navi from Acura of Auburn. Easy to work with, great price, and I've been bringing my other cars there for service for years. Very happy with the dealership. I've purchased 3 cars from them over the years, and they have been excellent.

Good luck with the purchase!

Unfortunately, Debbie has left the dealership to return to school so my sales person recommendation is no longer valid. But this dealership has always been decent with prices and there was another person here who had Sam Davis and was pleased with him. Good luck.

I'm from Maine, No Acura dealerships in this State

Sent first inquiry to Acura of Boston and was quoted $32, 755 for a 2005 Acura TL w/ Nav - WDP w/ Parch. interior. This past weekend (7/31) they had a sale for buy $100 over invoice... Not a bad deal.

Since I often travel for business in my car, I am planning a lease. Wonderful tax writeoffs in my situation and makes plenty of sense for me. Based on that price I am getting a payment of about $390/mo (42mo/12k) $3k total due at signing.

Not a bad deal at all in my book - and again, fits my situation. I *could* buy the car outright, but like most people in this forum with any financial knowledge, I'd much rather invest the rest and let the dealership take care of any mechanical issues. Look forward to a new TL in 42 months
