Ok the inserts are a little difficult the first time you take them out. Here are some tips:
1. use a butter knife to insert to engage the tabs that hold the insert in. There are (I believe) 8 of these tabs. 4 are on top and 4 are on the bottom.
2. By looking at the lower flange of the insert, you'll see the tell-tell sign of a tab- there will be a seam? that shows the tab. You'll get what I mean when you look at your insert for the bottom edge. There is a similar thing going on on the top edge as well. Use these points for where to insert the butter knife.
3. On the driver's side, work from outside to inside. You can reach under to bumper to get a number of these tabs disengaged.
4. Be patient. It took me about 30 minutes to get the first insert out. It was much faster for the second insert because my technique was refined by them.
Search for my login and I provided pictures of what I did. I'm on my 2nd version of the LED light on insert idea and the 2nd version with the backing material and iJDMToy lights is pretty nice.
