Thanks for posting again. I really like it with the one horizontal bar in front of the mesh! The mesh does look better darker as opposed to bright silver.

the mesh in his pic is not yet painted, just looks dark because of the placement and angle of pic. but it should not be bright silver.

Rob,

So I guess you didn't have to take the bumper off after all to install the mesh. So what are you using to hold up the mesh?????? Thanks!!!!!

The installer drilled tiny wholes every few inches. 9 total top and bottom,then secured the mesh with a thin but very stong surgical steel wire.

I guess it's hard to know "the lower grill mod" is there from this distance.

Excellent work on the grill mods, you've peaked my interest enough to try it myself...where did you get the work done? Does anyone know any good shops for mods of this type in the Washington DC area?

Here's the project I completed a couple months ago. It sounds like I took a different approach, but I did it all myself without too much difficulty so I included instructions. People are photoshopping the grille behind the plastic insert, but this is not an easy proposition. There is very little space behind the plastic insert and it would be difficult to get the mesh right to the edges, even with dremelling.

Question for Robert: any problems with rattling? If your grille is tied on with wires, is the grille loose enough to shake? I've epoxied mine onto a cored out insert and I don't hear anything thus far.

By the way, I have not elected to paint the grille because of the potential for stone chips. Haven't had time to look into powdercoating.

Yauser;
So far so good, no rattling, and the fit is very tight so far, I have a good custom auto shop in town my installer did have to do some cutting behind the orignal grills though . That was due to the recess and curve I wanted.The cutting was done on the back plastic piece that held the original grills in place behind the bumper. If I wanted to put the original grills back it would be a lot of work due to the plastic that was removed but they said they could do it.
By the way I just saw your work and it looks great,I don't have that kind of talent or time.
