So one of the Maxima owners that hangs around here traded his VQ for a SOHC Turbo EK. He wanted to do some pulls so I obliged and the results are what you see. The first run I thought that he jumped me a bit, I know it's not easy to brake boost and stay even, but I thought he had a bit of momentum from the start over me so the last run I beeped faster to have a more even start. His car pulled good in 3rd, came back strong and probably would have pulled more if he didn't let off but he said the car was all over the place. Said it was an ebay turbo kit, didn't look like anything fancy...2.5in DP, looked like 3in exhaust, FMIC, not sure the turbo but he said he's boosting 8 lbs.

This might force me to get more go fast mods by the end of the season, lol jk.

hahaha I've lost a lot of runs, M3s, modded Subaru's
anyways, all the props to the Civic owner. I believe he just got the car recently....wish he would have stayed in it the last run to see how it played out in 4th gear as I think the first run he kinda jumped a bit or at the least had some rolling momentum. If he didn't brake boost I would have beat him, no doubt so props to him....wish I knew more about the car.

 

don't sleep on them SOHC.....they are making comeback with some nice all motor builds.....seen one in a crx up at Epping running 13.0, 13.1 constantly that one was boosted I believe but I have also seen some 300whp all motor ones fully built motors and knowadays those motors are pratically given away for free! so parts and working on them is easy and if you know what your doing can get some nice builds

 

Haha I've been around cars long enough not to sleep on anything. I just like to run and the majority of the time I am stacked up against something faster or with more power. I used to have a SOHC on spray so I know they are capable, especially with the right mods and tune, turbo'd of course. That car was probably making ~230-250whp with more tq and was lighter than me, I just wish we had more of an even start because the first run seemed like he jumped a bit from brake boosting and the 2nd run, I tried to anticipate it so I might have started a little ahead.

Wish he stayed in it 4th gear. Quick car for sure.
