Looks like I'm "converted" again...
It's been a great ride! I enjoyed the TL-S very much, but the constant need for more power, and a truly "fun" car to drive, drove me to trade my TL in yesterday...
The dealer offered me a great trade-in price, and I couldn't resist any longer...

Number of reasons...
STI is much faster stock, as much as a half-second to 60 and even more in the quarter mile...
The modding capabilities of the new STI's is ridiculous! Chip alone, gives it 50hp/70tq... with exhaust and intake added, car can be tuned to 380hp/400tq on pump gas (flywheel).
Mitsubishi is NOT known for their reliability... everybody I know that's had one, has been a piece of crap, with all kinds of stuff falling apart. That, and the interior is just WAY cheaper, and offers less driving features like the STI does...
The STI tranny's are bulletproof! Good for 500+whp easily... they're just nearly impossible to break.
That, and I had a WRX for 5 years, that was modded like crazy, and I really just miss my Subaru, and the exhaust note that can't be beat!

The '08 is 3395 lbs, but with the BBS wheel options, it loses 7lbs per wheel... so,
The '08 with BBS is 3367 lbs... a difference of only 16 lbs!
The plus side, is the increased handling (slalom speed much higher) yet a more comfortable smooth ride, the better braking, the new DCCD controls, and WAAAYYYY more room on the inside.
Compared to the '07, the '08 rides SOOO much nicer, as I'm sure you've seen if you read any reviews. How they got better handing, while making the ride smoother, I have no idea.

Those are AWSOME cars. A buddy of mine had his engine completely rebuilt from the ground up and makes over 500WHP on 110octane racing fuel. They replaced the turbo with a larger one, chipped, turned, etc. He let me drive it last time I was in Orlando. Zero to sixty in about 3.8seconds and something like a high 10 or low 11 second quarter. Of course, he spent almost as much rebuilding the engine as he did on the car itself but to him it's worth it.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but to dahvaio and 2008 TL : He just got the car and it might be better if you dont help with his Buyers remorse (If he has any).
Anyway, i heard there are tons of suspension and throttle settings to fiddle with in the car,
Somewhere near 75 combinations of settings that can be configured !!

Great choice. The new STi's look much better than the old ones (it's growing up ), and the hatch is much more useful than most Americans want to admit. Good luck with the new car!

Took the STI to costco... the hatchback RULES... lol
No buyers remorse whatsoever... in fact, the wife and I just went for a 3 hour drive this morning, on some mountain roads near my house and we both had an AWESOME time, and even my wife said, "I really like your car a lot more, now"...
She was upset at first, because the TL was "pretty" and she liked it... but now she realizes how much more fun we can have together taking long drives like we did today... it was really fun.
Plus, it's just cool getting the "thumbs up" from people, and I like how all the fellow Suby owners are really cool, and wave, and want to talk to you... never got ANY of that, with the Acura crowd.
Looks is all opinion... but there's NO disputing the performance, and ridiculous amount of fun the STI offers, that the TL will never be able to even come close to achieving...

All the STI's are hatchbacks now...
Plans?
The dealer I purchased from will warranty up to a Stage 2 set-up (chip/exhaust) which will put the STI at 380hp/400tq...
I'll be happy there!

Anybody who doesn't find that front profile mean as hell... has issues!

Hmmm front is sexy...but I don't dig the hatchback style kind of car. I don't really find a hatchback to be sexy or sporty looking. A big change from a TL loaded with luxury to the STI. To me that is a huge drop. But it looks like you are looking for speed. And your the one who drives the car and if you like it, then that's all it matters. Enjoy it either way!!

the new STI look has grown on me. not as agressive or eye-catching as the 2004-2005 model, but attractive nonetheless.
although, try some awd launches and let us know how bulletproof your STI tranny is then. my buddy launched his in a movie theater parking lot (probably his 5th or 6th time?) and totally demolished his tranny. hello 5k repair bill.
up until the EVO IX, i would have taken an EVO hands down, but the EVO X looks horribly stupid.

One thing the STI is known for, are their bullet-proof tranny's... your buddy either did something REALLY strange with his DCCD settings, or it was a fluke... they're amazing set-ups.
I've had subies for years, and you sorta have to know what you're doing and not just rev to red-line and side-step the clutch over and over...

The ONLY difference, is the driving experience, and the quiet/comfort compared to the TL. The new STI is leaps and bounds better than previous models, though... in noise AND comfort.
I really liked the TL's interior as a whole... all the leather and dash surfaces were VERY nice! Definitely not as nice in the STI, but again... it's not a luxury car.

Congrats on the STI. Stop by from time to time but at this point this is turning into an off topic discussion.
