Looking to purchase a TL Type-S

We recently had to sell our 2008 Acura TL to purchase a van for the wife. Fitting 3 kids into the backseat of the TL would have been a challenge and my wife wanted a bigger vehicle.

I loved that car and the way it looked. It was a basic model with no nav and an auto tranmission. Never had any problems with it.

I currently drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee now but I would like to get back into a TL, preferably a TL-S.

I have found a couple that I would like some opinions on. I don't know the market or the value of the TL-S manuals or what a fair price is.

Price seems high for this one based on miles
Used 2007 Acura TL For Sale | Akron OH

Seems way overpriced, I believe KBB was listing it at 15k or so
Used 2007 Acura TL For Sale near Highland Park & Chicago at Audi Morton Grove | Stock: G1449B

This one seems like it was taken care of and has a couple of extras installed
2008 Acura TL Type S 6 Speed Manual Excellent Condition

Salvage title

I apologize for all the links. Just looking to find one decently price and to not get screwed.
I'm not in any huge hurry to purchase anything, probably within the next few months or so.

Thanks!

I'm not able to edit my posts. The last link is incorrect, it duplicated another one.

This is the correct link for the vehicle with salvage title,

Acura TL Type S

obviously, the $20k TL-S is priced way to high. (they need to cut it)

and I wouldnt even look at the Salvaged title (just cuz the other three are minty and I think you are looking for a gem, otherwise you would have found the sub $10k TL-S)

Keep looking as these seem a bit too high.. Would never consider a salvage vehicle even if a great deal.if you are considering spending that much, maybe you should increase the radius of your search..

I see TL-S's for sale around me drone time to time... My local Audi dealer had one in Carbon Bronze for about 13K with about 119,000 miles... I believe it was an '07...

Justin, they're not that cheap yet... 10K will get a nice base with 125-150K miles, but not a TypeS or atleast around me...

Unrelated, but my local Honda dealer had a 2007 TL base in black with over 100K miles for $12,000...

Maybe it's just me, but TL's are really expensive still unless they're a 2004 with 200K+ miles with a cracked dash, failing transmission, cracked seats, and leaking headlights... Those go for about 5-7K...

Maybe sonetimes, we luck out, but with TL's, not often!!!

OP, look around more if you can, I don't know... I want to try to help, but I know I'm probably failing miserably...

Just take this with a grain of salt...

They're stilly pretty high!!!

DonnyP, are you local to the Milwaukee area? The one craigslist ad in Richfield looks like a decent car. You could probably knock him down a bit if the Timing Belt Service hasn't been completed yet. If you are not local and would like me to take a look at it I can. It is only 20 minutes from me and there is a Cabela's I could always stop at afterwards!

breezy, I'm about 2 hours away or so. Depending on where, a little more.

If if you have the time and would like to go check it out, that would be awesome!

Maybe score some good items at cabelas in the process 😉

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, I really appreciate it.

General census looks like to keep looking around as prices are too high.

I hope to be back into a TL again one day, hopefully a 6 MT TLS 😉

yeah I thought the 20k one was priced too high. Although it looks like a beautiful car with low miles, that price is crazy.

i should write the dealership and offer 14 or 15k out the door. Worse they can do is tell me to pound sand.

be sure to inspect each individual car! as pictures wont tell the whole story.
be sure to check normal used car things like; tires, battery, has timing belt been performed?, a/c cold?, heat, radio, drives straight, ya know normal used car things

I would be able to if you are interested in that one. Just let me know and I can contact the seller to set up a day to go view it. I am headed past there on Sunday, so I could possibly go take a look then.

yes, I'm interested in it. Would be awesome if you could do that for me. Assuming it's still there of course. Sunday is fine or whenever you get time.

Rockstar, just seen you had to sell your TL. Must have been a sad day.

I remember when I first joined this site a few years back I remember seeing your build thread. That car was a thing of beauty and an inspiration to get me modding my TL.

Unfortunately the wife inherited it and I wasn't able to do much to it. If I'm able to find a TLS for a decent price, that will be another story

Well damn Donny...
thank you, my friend.

The black TL...
hmmm...I won't say it was a mistake selling it, but it did put into motion being less attached to a car since I'm not sentimental about my other cars now. I enjoyed it, I bled on it, I sweat on it, I learned a LOT about wrenching on it...and in the end, she was still a pretty girl...fully paid, zero issues (major)...
Then I got blue...and let's face it...she was a sexy bitch...but in the end, with the wife's push...I was ready to delve into something new...how can you be a car guy with a one trick pony...life is so short, gotta know what it's like to have this that and the other thing...try my hand. I mean, I'm no pioneer...I have never TRULY done anything that wasn't already done...but I did try and teeter on the line of what I considered classy and what I considered overdone. I enjoyed it, I loved taking pictures, I loved sharing the experiences and above all...I enjoyed forging (authentic) the friendships that I have on Acurazine and through the forums. I mean...solid solid people that I've gotten to know and plan to keep in touch with long after I can't drive anymore. It's a family thing, no matter what car sleeps in the garage.

Anyway...them IPAs are hittin...
I'm feeling nice...and I appreciate your very kind post.

Cheers and happy long weekend if you know to live on the right side of the border.

I guess it depends on your luck. I got a 2007 TL-S AT with 98k miles for 11k from dealer with 2year bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. Illinois.

That repainted one looks so clean. These prices don't surprise me. When I was looking for a car I settled on looking for a Base TL 6mt because the Type-S just wouldn't lose it's value....then I settled even more and bought an Accord haha.

I wouldn't sweat it considering it was painted four years ago. Any issues would have popped up long ago. I'd be more concerned if it was two days out of the body shop with a for sale sign on it.

I stumbled across this vehicle. I don't know the history on it and the carfax on it isn't loading as of right now.

It has 150k on it for 11 grand.

^^ You need to ask for the mileage of the vehicle, I don't see it on their site.

Car looks like nice from the pictures. Depending on maintenance records and any accident history, I think the asking price isn't bad. It's a rare color combo with manual trans.

I'm pretty sure I already know what the consensus response will be but figured I would ask anyways.

I found a rare combo TL-S that is close to me on craigslist today. It had low miles and for a decent price. Its a salvaged title though.

A little digging around with the VIN I acquired from the owner showed the accident happened at around 60k and was front end damage. Doesn't look like air bags deployed. Current owner stated that there was no frame damage done but entire front clip and core was replaced. 2 owner vehicle, he is the second owner as he purchased the car from the salvage company I guess.

Here is a link to his ad......

2007 Acura TL Type S 6 Speed

I could only find this one picture for free, there is a report and 10 pictures included but it makes you pay to view them all.....

Thoughts on this?

Terminology must have changed but no one replaces a front clip if theres not extensive damage. My definition of front clip is everything forward of the firewall.

In any event I'd pass but I'd never buy a salvage vehicle.

I wouldn't be worried about buying a salvage title car as long as everything checks out good but the price is high for a salvage title.
