Looking to paint my center console trim pieces

I'm looking to paint over my scratched up center console trim.
How should I prep it?

I'm looking to use the duplicolor smoke anodized metal cast. That paint should resist chipping.
Any advice is appreciated

sand off the original vinyl sticker first.. rough grit then fine grit.. lay a couple coats down, letting it dry and then hit it with a couple coats of clear.. should survive abuse pretty well.

I would start with 400 grit and finish up with 1000 sanding in a cross pattern
