Hi everyone,

This is a shot in the dark, but I am looking for a DVD ROM unit for my 2004 TL. The voice recognition function crapped out a while ago (I don't use it very much so it didn't bother me) but the dealership (and me) couldn't figure out what was the problem until after 4 service visits and many hours of troubleshooting.

Anywayz...they traced the problem to the DVD ROM unit (the one in the trunk) after they swapped it with a working one and the voice recognition came back to life. Well, the VR worked but all voice commands would turn the AC on and off, and nothing else.

If there are other solutions out there any help would be much appreciate. Please and thanks!

 

Has the dealer tried replacing the Navigation DVD disc? It is just a wild guess, but a scratched disc might be causing the VR data to load incorrectly or not load at all.

 

Hmm...will ask if they tried.
