Looking at an '06 TL and had a question

So I am have been looking for a low mileage 06 TL in good condition for a long time. I also want the 6spd with navigation which makes them even harder to find. Well I finally found out but with one issue... no navigation. I have done some searching and I can see two people have done the conversion after buying a non-navi. However, it doesn't seem plug and play. I did however find this on ebay and was wondering what the legitimacy of it was? Would I be better off holding out even longer for a navigation or do you think something like this would work? It says plug and play. Any input is greatly appreciated.

The seller claims that the items that he's selling is manufactured refurbished. If you don't trust the guy, I wouldn't go for it. If you check Acurazine's Black Market, you might find someone who's selling the parts you're looking for. Or you could try finding a totaled TL in a junkyard and source the parts from there.

Another option is for you to integrate a tablet and have a good data plan from your wireless carrier if you want to use GPS.

Yes I did see that. I have no problem being refurbished items. I did not see any in the AZ black market but I will look harder.

To me I really just love the look of the 3G TL with stock navigation. I have always wanted one. It's why at the time I got my 2000 TL. It's a great car but now that I have the money I want to get the 3G they're just hard to find in 6spd navi form.

By the legitimate do you mean it's truly plug and play? I won't have to be cutting any wires or anything like that? Also do you mind me asking how you know?

I don't know about anyone else but my navi isn't really that practical.
Google maps works just fine.

But I guess the nav is pretty to look at.

Why would you say it's not piratical? To me you're right and the car does look much better with the navi vs without.

screw the 06, go for an 07 or 08. thats what you need to concentrate on! and I have an 06! and thats just for modding purposes. as far as the navi goes it works great! sure the newer technology may graphically look better, but its not going to get you to your destination any sooner. this is after all 03 technology. with nav is way better than non navi hands down

I would love to but the problem is for 07/08 is no 6 Spd in the base model. Do you know how hard it is to find a Type S in a manual? I mean the 07 got a few new extras but nothing to me that's a deal breaker. What do you think is on the 07 that you really wish you had?

07-08 manual means type-s, and type-s means a much higher price tag. But by all means, OP, if you can pick up a type-s DO IT!

I actually found a black on black 2007 Type-S A-Spec with only 76k near me. Sadly the car had been really abused and needed a lot of work. Sad to see people ruin such nice cars.

Easy! A flashable ECU And the ability to use Hondata flash pro! Pretty simple

For me it's not practical.
I can whip out my iPhone and google map a destination and route it in less time than it takes to look up an address in our navi units.
Only time I actually sit and map an address with the nav is to hear my car talk... In that sexy female voice :o

Maybe it's just me, but I've never regretted buying a TL without navi. It does look pretty, but between the convenience of a Garmin Nuvi with free lifetime updates that can move from car to car and google maps on my i phone I just don't see it. It looks pretty, but it's just one more thing to potentially break.

With an iPhone and USA-spec adapter you get the turn-by-turn voice prompts through the speakers too.

For $1700 I think I would rather install an iPad mini in the dash.

The only thing I like about the navi is the review camera. But I think that was only an 07-08 option.

Seriously, I don't have the navi in mine, and I've used it in other TL's and it isn't good. My iPhone 4 is way faster than that navigation, and the iPhone 4 is slooooow. Forget the Navi, if you find a 6spd with the color combo you want, hit it. I can't find manuals in anything but silver, and I hate silver.

Wow. That's my favorite color and they're none around here. I will trade you. hahaha.

You guys bring up a great point about paying a lot of a dated piece of technology especially when I have an Iphone5.

If you want a 6MT AND navi, it will be really tough. I myself needed 4-5 months to find one that was right color. I searched on autotrader everyday. Didn't really care about the navi. On 04-06 models, I do agree with others that the dash without navi looks ugly. I wish I had navi just so that I can see the full song titles when I listen to XM, but then I smile when I look down at the manual shifter knob.

I don't think navi is a big deal. I personally don't mind using my smartphone for that. That navigation kit is rediculously expensive.
