Lookin to Buy an '04/'05 (Chicago)

Hi All,
I am in the process of buying my TL (6MT). I was wondering if I got a "new" 2004 what kinda price I should expect? Additionally, would I perhaps be better off just picking up an '05? If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please share. Thanks

After reading about some of the issues with the 2004 I decided to stick with the 2005. The dealers in the area seem to be playing things very tight and weren't really discounting the 2004 models enough to make up for the loss in depreciation.

The problem is, when they say the TL is selling realy good, they aren't kidding. I was looking at the 5AT with Nav and the dealer I was at had about 12 of them on Monday. When I went back on Wednesday, they were down to 3 of them. I got right around $2K off MSRP and had to really struggle to get that.

Actually I just picked one up (actually picking it up today ) at Mullers Woodfield (after the suggestion of a couple of people here) for 33.5 for a 6MT w/ Navigation. I probably could've gotten it down a little bit more but was dealing over the phone / internet and got a way better price than I could here in wisconsin.

I contacted every Acura Dealer in the chicago area. Joe Girard from McGrath Acura in Morton Grove offered 33.6 for the same setup, it's just that he didn't have one in stock.

It seems the dealers are willing to play a little more than before. Just 2 weeks ago I was talking to a dealer and they quoted me online at 33.6 but when I went down to check it out he "claimed" to have never quoted me that price and it was up to 34.1

I would be surprised to find any 04's left on the lots. I bought mine about 3 months ago no problems so far! Where are you located in chicago? Maybe I could help?

There are probably a lot of non-navi/5at's out there, try Rizza Acura (Chris) in Orland Park, or Muller's (Shane Hoffman) both dealers had like 6 04's a few weeks ago. They should deal bigtime since the resale is lower on a 04.

Eazy, sorry that Greg @ Arlington did not work out, we talked about you today and due to the high demand and the difficulty for them to get navi cars they raised the prices for now.

I'd get an 05, buying at 04 you're buying an almost 1 year old car, you will face higher off the lot depreciation on it than you would an 05

That's the conclusion we made too. But if a dealer sold you a 04/tl/5at/!navi for like 30k before tax that would be interesting.

Go for the '05, IMO. G'luck. Chicago taxes are terrible.

Taxes are 8.75%, and luckily I was looking for a non-navi 6mt, but might even settle for the at if the price is right. I'm in the South Suburbs, near Lansing.

I picked mine up two weeks ago from Arlington. I got an 05 Anthracite/Ebony 5at/NAVI for 36 out the door. Overall I was pretty happy with the deal.

My mom got her TL (after riding in mine!) at McGrath Acura in Westmont and both her and my dad said that it was the most pleasant dealer experience they have ever had.

Has anyone purchased from McGrath in Morton Grove? My mom is thinking of buying her TL from there. If so, how's the service dept and do they offer free car washes like most Lexus and Infiniti dealerships do? Thanks.

That's where I bought mine. They do offer free car washes. I can't speak about the service department though since I just bought mine a week ago and haven't had any problems yet.

The only issue I have with them is that they are selling too well and didn't seem too willing to wheel and deal. I did eventually get them down to $2000 under MSRP, but I know that's not the best possible price. I did get them to throw in a hat and coffee mug though

But overall it was a very pleasant buying experience. It was really low pressure and they seemed fairly honest. Well, as honest as a car dealer can be.

For me buying my Acura was a totally different than buying a dodge, ford or even a chevy! I was treated like a person! Not some guy who might get away or some type of low life. Very cool! It seems like they go by a different set of rules!! I got mine in orland park! If you are going to head out that way send me a pm for some info!!

I had talked to Nate Pave at McGrath Morton Grove and he was the most evasive internet manager of all the dealers I talked to.

Greg Stone at Arlington was the best, but he did state yesterday when I was there that they are doing like 34.1 for navi cuz of the high demand and the allotment they have.

Midas,

How does their car wash system work?? Is it only one day a week or can you go in any time. We bought our two Lexus's from Bredemann down the street. You get 52 car washes a year and the wash is open 6 days a week. Catch is, if you blow your 52 washes in less than a year, you have to wait until you hit your next year mark. They keep track electronically.

Vtec, I sent you a PM. Thanks.

I don't know how it works. As I said, I only picked mine up a week ago. I haven't even had 1 free wash yet. But there was no mention of any limits to me and I'd almost (ALMOST) swear the saleman mentioned no limit.

The truth is, it's about a 20 minute drive for me so I don't know how often I'll actually take advantage of it. I also don't know anything else about it such as whether they hand dry, clean the interior or do the windows. I suspect it's just an exterior wash, but I don't know. If that's all it is, I don't really expect to use it very often.

Arlington Acura where I bought mine gives you free car washes as well. I had one done already. It's exterior and they dress the tires. I thought they did a pretty nice job and it is unlimited washes.

I know you guys are pretty much talking about new cars, but I just bought a used 2004 TL w/ Navi. I contacted a couple of the luxury non Acura dealerships (Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, etc.) and asked them to email me if they got any TLs in for trade-ins. I figured that these dealerships would have much more leway in the price since they don't carry Acura cars. I just got engaged so I needed as much leway as I could get. Motorwerks in Barrington emailed me back and I ended up getting my TL $3k under what the KBB price was for the used car. To me, having 9k miles on the car was totally worth the price difference, but to each his own I guess. I hope this helps someone.
