Exclamation Look closely at your windshield!

Look closely at your windshield on a clear day. Keep your vision on the horizon but focus on the glass. Distorted aint it? If you did everything right you will notice the film that makes your windshield "acoustic". It is not optically correct when you look at an an angle although if you look through it, its invisible, cool isnt it?? Although supposedly "acoustic" I believe it also has to do with safety specifically, a different formulation of the glass laminate to protect pedestrians.

Many, many windshields are like that. It happens to curved glass..

Although many windshields get distorted, the TL's windshield has a slightly visible plastic film WITHIN two panes of glass.

This is, to my knowledge, unique and meant to quiet the interior.

Still doesn't help tire noise from the garbage EL-42's...

Isn't the film integral to modern safety glass, meant to hold the pieces of glass together if broken in an accident?

yes, that is has been around for many years now, called laminated glass as it has a sheet of plastic between the outside and inside glass, keeps all the parts together instead of flying into the car.

Tread, this one is a little different. Regular safety glass is a plastic film that is completely optically correct and not considered "acoustic" This is actually fuzzy when you look at an angle. Its the same layer but a variation of the film used. Take a look. I dont know if this is true for everydoby but is you look carefully in the center of the windshield you will also notice a dimple!.
