Longevity on parts

I was wondering about parts on my 08 TLS like the starter, alternator, etc. I have 87 k mi on the car and thankfully she is running fine. I have only replace brake pads and a battery. I did have a cyclinder head replaced under warranty. Spark plug blew out of the motor coming back from N.Y. I had the car towed 100 mi to the nearest Ma. dealer. That being said, I have replaced just about everything on my wife's 2003 325 convertible that is also at 87 k mi. Things started failing on the car at around 65 k mi. What is the average life span on starters, etc on the TL's ? Thanks.

Another story stressing the importance of checking your spark plugs' torque.

The Denso components used in Honda's are very reliable. I'd throw out a percentage of maybe 5% that you'll have a major component fail such as a starter, alternator, power steering pump or AC compressor.

I've owned three Honda products and have only had one component fail - power steering pump. And it was more likely because I had a leak and let it run dry for too long. That was on my '93 Accord @ 220K miles.

As nice as BMWs can be I wouldent want to own one much past 100k. As far as the TL...little things like starter, alternators generaly last a good long time in the 3g, they do wear out prematurly from time to time but it isn't overly common. Bottom line...You won't have anywhere near the same ammount of problems with a tl as with a 3series.

It was pretty amazing on my 4th gen accord and I kept it long enough (280,285 miles) that I was able to wear out several items.

Alternator-178,000
Automatic transmission-190,000
A/C compressor-255,000
Starter-258,000

Current vehicle is my av, 7th gen (2004) Accord V6. Motor mounts (front and side) broke around the 110,000 mile mark, starter went out at 135,000 miles. Since other than the J30, its a pretty similar car to the TL, longevity is probably going to be similar.

for crucial parts like starter, alternator, etc they will last you a long time. 87k miles is still young, shouldnt have any issues unless you abused it. not much to do if you just want it to run. however if you want it to run like new, some things to consider are compliance bushings, power steering seals, motor mounts, etc.
