Lojack???

Is it worth having Lojack installed by the dealer before I pick up my Anth/Cam/AT/Navi TL?
The dealer is charging $895 for the version that informs me on my cell phone as soon as someone breaks into my car.

I got it 2 days after picking up the car. So you can do it when you want. LoJack came to me and did it in my driveway. I got the same setup for peace of mind. I travel alot and it's nice to know I'll know ASAP if someone moves my car.

As far as price, I THINK I got mine for $750 or $795. I can check this weekend for sure if you want to know

Thanks

Hey PA-TL,

That would be great, thanks! It would be much easier if they can install it in at my place. How long did it take? Also, what type of lojack service do you have? I'm thinking about getting the lojack Early Warning system.

Thanks again.

I have this link inside Garage, you may get some useful info out there, too.

Call LoJack Customer Service at 1-(800)-4-LOJACK (800-456-5225). The price is as follows which includes installation: $695 for basic service & $995 for early warning.. which is WILD!!!

You register 5 different numbers and carry a "keyfob" with you and when the car moves without lojack detecting the keyfob, your ass gets rung at all 5 locations.

1,000 for the life of your car... is worth it!!!!!

Another thing to think...

Some ppl don't like to drive them again if their cars are stolen or lost, and hope to get money back from Insurance. In this case, don't need to get LoJack. 'Cause LoJack may help you find your car, if yours has been taken apart, ... ...

Perhaps, some security system like Viper or xxx would be helpful for those particular ppl.

I never understood the point of this system from a consumer perspective.

If one of my vehicle is stolen I honestly don't want the car to be recovered. If the vehicle is recovered there will in most cases be a fair amount of damage and I still have to shell out a deductible to have this repaired. The repair deductible which most likey will be the same amount as if the insurance company replaced the entire vehicle.

The early warning system I don't get either. What good is being notified that the vehicle was stolen? What are you going to do about it? 9mm shots at the back window as your car is driving away?

I would save your money and make sure you have gap coverage on your loan.

I suggest you people to get good insurance instead, its better off this way. I had 2 cars stolen and the best way is to have good insurance. BTW first car was a 97 civic couple with 99 gsr motor, second was a 01 type r. I came close to getting lojack or the viper gps system but friend of mine told me the way to get around them, easy too!!! So save for the money for something else. Or you can look their sites. they are not 100% sure to find your car, therefore, dont get it.

Great point. I'm not sure I'd want my car back after it's been stolen. The only compelling thing about the lojack is the insurance savings, here in MA its something like 200/year off the comprehensive. Still, it'd take four years to recoup the initial investment.

You only save 5% on the insurance with famers. And that goes for most of other insurances as well.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. For me I like the peace of mind.

Golfingguru, it took about an hour in my own driveway. I got the early warning system. If you are still interested about what I paid let me know.

Yeah, that's the dealer. They tried to sell me on the add-on's also, but I successfully declined.
