Loaner?

Does anyone know how old you have to be to get a loaner car? I searched, but couldn't find anything on it. Thanks.

that most likely depends on the dealership. my dealer wont give me the car directly because i'm not 25, but if i get my mom to go in with me she just signs her life away for me. i've heard of some dealerships not caring about the age as much..

My dealership gives me loaners and I am 24 - again, it depends on the dealership.

i guess that if you are old enough to have a 30+ thousand dollar car in YOUR name then you should be allowed to have a loaner car...

I fail to see your reasoning there. Any 17 year old with a full time job can buy a TL, it's doesn't mean you're responsible. It's not like it's a Bentley Continental GT or something.

$35K car = Responsible person (I think not)
$35K car = Baller (I think not)

Like I said anybody with a job living at home with mammy can lease a TL without too much trouble.

i see what you are saying. but if you buy a car then the car is in your name... and you have insurance thats in your name... even if you lease a car, in this state you need to have full tort, full coverage... when i had to get a loaner car on 3 occasions bc of my TL they never ask for my age. hell they didn't even ask me for a license... what they did ask for was my credit card and proof of insurance.. i am guessing that my insurance would be transfered over to their car.. i can understand if budget or enterprise or avis want to give him a hard time. but acura loaner cars from a dealer, he should have no problem.

I see this reasoning too, but unfortunately that's not how insurance works. All those actuaries and their statistics says it's too risky to rent to somebody under 21 or 25yrs old. I know when I did manage to get a hold of a rental or loaner when I was 18, I would beat the living crap out of it just for fun. Those thoughts don't even cross my mind today. I don't know if that's a good example, but ....???

yeah, it depends on the dealer. the dealer where i bought my car from asked me how old i was when i wanted a loaner, i believe the age they were looking for was 21 (im 24), however the loaner came from enterprise.

i took my tsx in the other day to another acura dealership for some service, and got an 06 tsx as a loaner from the dealership without giving my age. all they wanted were my driver's license and insurance information.

My dealer uses Enterprise so it's their policy that counts not the dealership. I've only needed a loaner once when my Honda was at the Acura shop for a major tuneup. (90K). They found a few items that needed repaired, called their Honda division down the road, and the parts were not in stock. It wasn't their fault since the parts weren't something normally used for the tuneup. I got a loaner without asking. I had already gone home, but the service manager called saying the car wouldn't be finished by 5:00PM, offered me the loaner. They came by, picked me up, and gave me the loaner until my Honda was finished with the service. I have no complaints.

It depends on the dealership. Acura of Boston will only give you one if they need to hold onto your car for greater than 3 hours or so. And you need to tell them before you come in for the appointment in order to get one. I've gotten loaners twice. Both times I got to play with an RSX. Great handler and you can actually downshift and hold all 5 gears! Heheheh. Steering is not as overboosted like my TL either. But I couldn't wait to get back into my car at the end of the day though. The RSX is just plain cheap and needs to have a Honda badge on it instead.

They sure do. It's part of the warrantee. But it depends on the dealer as to who gets a loaner. Some will give you a new car off their lot while others will call Enterprise Rent-a-car. You just have to give the car back with the same amount of gas as when you took it. Infiniti is willing to give out loaners even for oil changes from what my friend, who owns a G35, has told me.

Yes Infiniti will give you a loaner for anything, and it's great.

One of my biggest service complaints about Acura is their pathetic loaner program. Even better is that they think their doing me a favor by offering Enterprise.

That said, I havent met an Acura dealership that didnt require you to be over 25 for a loaner.

Denied!!!

When i took my 06 TL to get some repairs done, the dealership said they couldnt give a loaner since i didnt buy my car there. They said it was their "policy". What kind of BS is that!!! 1 week later, im back in for the same problems and complain that i need a loaner for them to work on my car so i can get to work. They finally agreed.

Everytime i call to get my car worked on or ask about something the first words out of their mouth is "Did you buy your car here?" Why the hell does that matter? I should get the same level of acura service regardless.

Anyone else have any experiences like this?

Not to rock the boat here. I had a Passat prior to my Acuras. Let me tell you about loaners. They didn't exist on the VW side, or I got a service manager car along with all his personal belongings as well (I'm sure he was happy). Sad, you spend a large amount of money and no customer service. Think about the Phaeton owners, at least in my area.

Yes, I am well over 25, and never had a problem with a loaner with any Acura I own. One would think Acura could help out customers under 25.
