Little close huh?

I agree. Whenever I park in public parking lots, I choose the furthest away from the crowds. Also try to find spots where is only one side someone can park next to me instead of both sides. I rather walk a bit knowing that my TL is safe. I have plenty of frds yell at me for giving up parking spots that is close by because it is a tight squeeze.

I've parked every car I've owned, even a 1990 Camry in open areas / corner spots. I always figured that I was perfectly alright driving a car as old as me, but I still wasn't going to encourage anyone to use my car as a scratching post. That car is still special to me since it was originally my late Grandpa's. I remember washing and waxing it when I was six or seven.
I feel anyone who's had damage to their TL's pain.
During college I owned 2 cars before my TL. Had an Odyssey for a year, sold that, and drove the Camry again for 8 months while shopping for something I wanted. Bought the TL my last semester, and 2 days before graduation I had a probably drunk idiot scrape the side of my TL to death. I've got pics on my introduction thread, but I can't bare to post them into this thread. Still galls me that 5 months before the TL got scraped I was driving something worth less than the damage to the TL. Its all because of an idiotic FX35 driver that decided they wanted to double park in our own apartment lot, which kept sheep driver from being able to park properly next to me. I'm still more angry with the FX35 driver than whoever scraped my car (never did find them). That FX35 is the only car I've ever felt the desire to key in my life. Fortunately for them I respect others' property (and would also be too obvious of a suspect). I just see it as incredibly douchey to take up 2 spaces in your own parking lot and not even take an end space.
I did TRY to be as smart as I could about parking in a college apartment. I generally tried to park next to a first-gen SHO owned by a nice older gentleman, or a debadged 330i that the owner took great care of. Unfortunately I rode my bike to school, so the car sat a lot and the cars around it would change. Amusingly while I owned the Odyssey a QX56 would always park next to me. I imagine because the Odyssey rarely moved during the week (biked to school). Yet another reason to hate that FX35. They were too good to park normally, but a QX56 worth probably twice as much could park in a reasonable manner.
Fortunately my car sleeps in a driveway for the time being. Next apartment will hopefully have a carport or garage, or at least no college students.
Sorry for the rant.

People who park like that need to be shot.
It's ridiculous. I parked my car the very first day I got it in the far parking lot at my college where only a few cars were. Sure enough when I came out there was some d-bag parked right next to me. I don't understand it. I know people park that far out for different reasons, but really?

People have no respect. My car has been through a lot of parking mishaps-- mainly from when my mom was teaching at an elementary school where parents would park next to her and their kids would tap the doors or have their backpack zippers scrape the doors. (I try my best to forget about those scratches )
Angers me to hell, but I try my best to park as far away from most people. The extra few hundred feet to walk into a store/school is worth it to me.

My school garage is always packed, I get there early and I thought it was genius to park my car beside a pillar to reduce probability of a scratch and door dings by 1/2. Then one day I walked to the car with the girlfriend, she opened the door wide and it kissed the pillar pretty hard. Now I intentionally park it really close to the pillar that she has to wait till I backup so she can get in; it also puts my car further away from the car parked on the next spot further reducing my ding chances....geniusness continues

i have a few spots in my work's parking structure where i can park next to a wall and on the other side is a huge gap wide enough for someone to swing their door open completely. It's awesome. One of these spots on every floor.

I used to park far away too. It didn't prevent morons from parking next to me for no reason. I started finding new nicks and dings on my doors and considered parking closer.
Then one day, I came out to my car and found my front bumper nearly ripped off, my corner light smashed and a tire track across the top of the bumper of my stock height.
The vehicle that did it literally had to have its tire 2 feet off the ground. There is no way you could not notice hitting my car....yet there was no note, no person waiting...nothing.
I returned inside to the store to see if there cameras had picked up the hit and run, but I was "parked too far away". Such bs.

well..to perhaps look on the other side.. perhaps the TLS was reversing into the spot and with the convenience of the backup camera, knew exactly when/where to stop?

the ones i really hate and cant stand are the people in trucks that leave their hitch on and insist in reversing into parking spots. I saw one guy the other day backing into a spot and the hitch tapped the car behind him, you think the guy left him a note telling him what happened? hell no but i sure did along with the guys license plate number.

I used to frequent NSXprime and I remember a thread about this subject. These guys would hate when they would park far away and then some kid in a tricked out ricer thinking his car was nice would park next to it.
Personally, I will do this often because I know that whoever is driving the nsx or porsche or corvette will generally avoid slamming open their door into my car.

I always try to park far away from people in parking lots only to find when I come out that someone is next to me, smh. I always offer to drop my wife off at the door and she says, no I'll walk, lol.
One time I came out of the movie theater and I had to actually move my car out of the spot I was in so my wife could get in. Once I did that I checked my car to see if there were any scratches or dings, luckily there wasn't. If there was, when that person came out of the theater to see their car they wouldn't be too happy because there was going to be huge decent in their door from me putting my foot through it!! It aggravates me just thinking about that day.
