Light-up emblems
Does anyone have these? http://www.ampdemblems.com/Home_Page.html
They're pretty sweet if you set them up to light up when you brake (like the new dodge vipers). I wanna know if anyone has them and what they think of them. The red looks pretty badass to me

The lit Mercedes Star made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
The Acura ones didn't make me feel much better.
So there are really folks out there that stand back, look at that lighted emblem on their car and think "Yea, badass!!"????? Amazing.........

I don't know what you guys are talking about......
I've got a red lighted logo on the trunk-it looks PERFECT with the tails when the lights are on. Honestly, it looks OEM.
I also bought the front logo (the original style-lower light output). It's very subtle-nice touch....
Neither lighted logos are overdone. I've actually had people ask me if the TL came OEM with them.

I agree 1 MILLION percent with Steven, I have em and love em. The more people that follow the "ricaroni" thread the better though. If EVERYONE had this...I probably wouldn't be as into it.
But please, proceed to just post up your perception of the popular opinion...
Much less difficult than forming your own. Same thing that happened a year ago,

I think that if they're as good as the website shows I would do it. But I would go with red in back and white in front. Blue doesn't suit the car as well, and any other color (they advertise green?!!) would look cheap.

Funny, this has come up again. I found the Amp'd site and quickly jumped to the narrow-minded "rice" notion myself until I saw how OEM everyone's were coming out. Bit the bullet and got one of my own in red. Wired it to brake light via a pulse brake module. Gotten a few compliments from 3rd and 4th Gen-ers.
I agree with rockstar, why waste time creating a new way to regurgitate a generalized opinion? Just find any random quote, "+1" it, and call it a day

See what you guys who are "band-wagon not-liking it" are probably thinking about those indiglo emblems from back in the day where the whole emblem lit up. These are oem so the rice has been thrown out on this!! I have one in red on my wdp in fact my pic is up on the site it's the 31st pic there. I've gotten compliments on it when people see it at night and also get asked if it came with the car from factory. Even my brother who has an RL at first thought it was "ricey" but once he saw it in person he wanted one himself. Not for nothing but all of you who follow the generic opinion might as well all put on a school uniform and match each other since you can't formulate your own style or opinion for that matter.

Seems like everyone assumes that the people who think these are ricey are just "bandwagon jumpers" or following "popular opinion". Ever consider the possibility that these folks HAVE formed their own opinions, and think these are ricey? Just because you like them doesn't mean you can belittle the people who don't, and accuse them of being followers.

i agree with cuban, it's like one person posts their opinion and everyone else follows bc they think if they differ from what's said then they'll be forever known as "that guy". however, everyone has their own opinion and is entitled to it...it's just the trend i see around here sometimes.
i've had mixed opinions on these things, i'm sure they look sweet but i'd have to see it in person to sway my decision one way or the other.

Or maybe the majority thinks this is rice... Hey if you like it all to ya but just because most of us think its ugly does not mean we didnt form our own opinion... our opinions are just the same.
I personal laugh every time i see something like this in person, the next "mod" the lightup windshield sprayers?

I'll clarify...not everyone is a bandwagon jumper but most are.plus, if you try it and don't like it for yourself its an informed decision that you have made.any other opinion based on pictures and assumptions are just mudslinging in my opinion

Thank you. That's the problem that seems to float around on all the forums. people see a pic of it and are like "that's ugly" but if they saw it in person first they'd probably be all up on it.

my point was, the ones that don't like it can't say they've tried it and maintained their original position.
Actually, more to my point, almost EVERYONE that has gotten it felt the same way until they got it and put it on their car.
That should tell you something...

The glow is so subtle it's only bright enough to outline the Emblem. It's classy and looks like something a high end manufacturer would do. I'm glad they dont, otherwise people would just say this was trying to imitate them.

you are right, it most probably this exact emblem wasn't on the cars I have seen but I got the idea of what the light might look like.

I don't know, man...I remember those light up nozzles and "H"'s etc and hated them. I had NON light up white emblems on my 1997 Accord so I feel you and don't wonder why people automatically think "HELL NO" to this mod. But trust me, if you saw it in person I'm almost positive you'd be a lot more open to it.
I guess I just feel like any time this mod comes up, there's a LONG line of bashing on it from people that don't really know because they haven't seen it in person.

it's also the fact that it's hard getting a good pic of it. I mean, by that pic ^ I don't like it at all, looks rice to me. But then someone will say, You have to see it in person. Without actually seeing it in person, for me, that doesn't look good.

Well, you are actually looking and taking the time to think and analyze and THEN making a decsion. My comments were definitely more geared toward the ones that just blindly come in and post "rice" and that's it.
If you don't like it, you don't like it. But at least you gave it a shot and entertained the idea!
Have a good one!

I totally disagree. A Civic is an entry level Honda. The lines on a Civic are no where close to the good looks of a TL. If these lights are done tastefully, they look excellent. Nice lines on your car (like a TL or Type S), these lights accentuate the look.
You guys make this sound like these emblems are high shine LED bars. They match the luminance of the tail lights (when they're on). It gives a consistent look to the back end of the car.
You want to talk about a look that's inconsistent with the look of the back of the car???? Look at TL's that have the high-end license plate bulbs or backup lights....talk about an inconsistent look.
