Light conversion help !!

I have been asking around for a while and I am hoping for a clear answer with some direct advice on the look I am going for…my Type S already has 6k hid lights in the low and high beams….I want 10k bulbs for my low beams ( blueish look) and I want a conversion kit for my fogs for 30k GREEN…is that possible? so i'm looking for a mixture of that blue and green look…I have seen it a couple times but people keep saying ebay ebay ebay…theres a gazillion ads on ebay…hopefully someone can give me a clear direct answer…thanks a lot in advance.

I wouldnt go any higher then 6K on your low beams, while it may look cool going higher you are not going to get good output and your not going to be able to see much, especially in poor weather!! The higher K you go the less light output.

Here is a link I found for green, I wouldnt bet on these being great quality or last very long.

Its your car and do what you like with it.

However, just make sure you remember the driving risk factors with having such ridiculous light output.

Majority of us are going to tell you to stay away from anything over 6000K because

1. The higher the KELVIN rating you go the more blue, purple, pink etc the light output will be. Those colors are not good for your eyes when driving at night for long periods of time. It's hard to see the contrast between different objects when everything doesn't look their true color due to BLUE, PURPLE, GREEN LIGHTS.

2. You lose light intensity and lumens the higher you go in the Kelvin scale. The more LUMENS you have the more bright the light is. For HID bulbs the peak lumen rating is usually around 4,300K - 5,000K (depending on brand of course). As soon as you get to 6000K lumen ratings drop compared to 4,300K and 5000K. Once you go to 8000K lumen ratings plummet even further..

The Retrofit Source Inc is a good website to buy QUALITY (not ebay garbage) brand bulbs from. Their in-house brand is called Morimoto and I would recommend them over amazon/ebay no-name brand bulbs.

One thing you will notice is that TheRetrofitSource does not offer any bulbs beyond 6000K rating. Why? Because of what I stated earlier. Anything beyond 6000K you are losing USABLE LIGHT OUTPUT. Those guys are GURUS and GENIUSES when it comes to anything related to automotive lighting.

If they refuse to offer bulbs that are beyond 6000K there is a very good reason for it...

That's all I have for advice.

It's your choice if you want to take everything in and let it simmer for a bit or completely ignore my advice and still go for BLUE lights with GREEN fogs.

Yeah some people (not me) might think your car "looks cool" at a distance (by stander looking at the lights from outside the car) but your light output will be complete shit inside the car looking out.

Things are going to be far worse if it's raining out, snow covered roads or heavy fog..

I can appreciate wanting to make your car look and function better. But 12,000K bulbs will do neither. They look purple for one thing and the lumens are probably less than halogens.

Don't do it. 3g's headlights are meant for 5k Osram CBI's or Morimotos! why would you downgrade the performance so much just so oncoming traffic can see your blue and green lights? You can't even see then when driving and they just limit your visibility. Plus you are getting rid of this beautiful OEM look at night... That is my opinion
