Is Lexol as bad for leather as ...

... Armor All is for vinyl?

I have seen the damage that regular use of Armor All can do to Vinyl. I had a friend who needed to replace his entire front dash due to Armor All leaching out the dyes and cracking the vinyl.

I have started using Lexol Leather conditioner once a week on my seats (the butt imprints are significantly reduced now!) However, my concern is that I may be doing long-term damage to my leather by using Lexol.

Any thoughts?

nope i used lexol on the bmw for years and its great. just conditioner for the leather nothing more. i never put it once every week but it won't hurt the leather. you might be soaking it up with your pants from all that lexol you have on it. i usually put on once a month, and its my daily driver.

Just a tip about Armor All

I don't know if it still is the formula, but Armor All is water based. As such the constant heat or direct UV rays of the sun will destroy the dash or any area treated with the stuff. Kind of like putting oil on your body when sun tanning. No protection, just an invite to burn. I would not use it on my cars.

I don't think you will have any issues as Lexol is Ph balanced specifically for leather. I believe this is true of both the cleaner and the conditioner.

If you want to truly protect vinyl, pick up some Vinylex. It is made by the same company as Lexol and it is awesome!!

Armor All is crap, always has been, always will be!!!
