Let's talk mid accuracy

so I have a question regarding the mid on these here Acuras. My mid is reading anywhere in between 32 and 37 miles a gallon freeway driving at 70 mph cruise control set. I believe that the mid is wildly inaccurate. At the pump I average between 29 and 33 mpg. What my question is, is really how accurate are the mid's in our Acuras. Now for tire pressure I think they're very accurate. As well as the temperature or outside temperature is. I understand it's more of just a readout then it is meant got total and complete accuracy. I also understand that it's there to give us a roundabout figure. What are your thoughts.

Hmmm, the trip computer on my 2006 TL 6MT is pretty much spot on; here are the results of a recent 3,000 mile trip I took to Michigan:
  • 421.0 miles -- 13.760 gallons -- 30.60 mpg (calculated) -- 30 mpg (trip computer)
  • 455.4 miles -- 14.767 gallons -- 30.84 mpg (calculated) -- 31 mpg (trip computer)
  • 315.6 miles -- 10.674 gallons -- 29.57 mpg (calculated) -- 30 mpg (trip computer)
  • 412.4 miles -- 14.404 gallons -- 28.63 mpg (calculated) -- 29 mpg (trip computer)
  • 225.4 miles -- 09.507 gallons -- 23.71 mpg (calculated) -- 25 mpg (trip computer)
  • 388.6 miles -- 13.004 gallons -- 29.88 mpg (calculated) -- 29 mpg (trip computer)
  • 361.9 miles -- 12.337 gallons -- 29.33 mpg (calculated) -- 30 mpg (trip computer)
  • 346.1 miles -- 12.123 gallons -- 28.55 mpg (calculated) -- 28 mpg (trip computer)
Notes:
  • The first three tanks were driven again a mild to moderate headwind.
  • The middle two tanks were doing lots of toing and froing for my niece's wedding.
  • The final three tanks were driven against a very nasty headwind with lots of driving rain and standing water on the road.

Where in Michigan did you go. The reason I ask is I'm from there originally. 23 years in Florida, and I want to go back. Miss the change of seasons. Lots of family there too.

MID in my '05 is spot on. There are plenty of historical threads to reference if you want to see learn more about this. The MID accuracy has been discussed multiple times over the past 10 years.

Yeah, I grew up in Royal Oak, Rochester (then called Avon Township), Troy, and then Bloomfield Hills back in the 1960s and 1970s. My niece got married over in Holland and so my wife and I headed out early and visited the Cadillac, West Branch, and Bay City areas where I spent my summers.
