lets hear everyones input on 3 qt flush
I've heard its good to do the 3 qt tranny change every 15,00 miles and others say its a waste of money, do the full 9qt flush. So whats the majority of you folks do? I really don't see where it can hurt anything doing the 3 qt change, but then again I'm no tranny doctor

Safety Car
8-9 is at overhaul u cant get that fluid out unless u tip the car or take ur tranny out. but this is what i do... drain the 3 quarts out that drain out when u take the plug out, put one quart in, rip around for about 10 mins, put another quart in rip around another 10 mins, and then come back to my shop.... drain out what i just put in and replace it with new fluids......that usually cleans it out really nice. the guy at acura said u can even run it dry because theres another 5 or 6 quarts in there lubing it up and the particles would really come up and out on the last drain.... i trust him but a couple of quarts dont make a difference to me.

sounds like a great way to overheat the fragile very temp sensative clutches!
Would you add fresh milk to expired milk and think its good?
Would you drain and replace 1 or 2 qts of engine oil- not the filter- and call it good?
I dont care how the book was written years ago, basic science will tell you that mixing old and new fluids is not good
The total capacity is 7.3 qts- so there are not several qts sitting around doing nothing
Those extra particles that come out in the method descibed in the above post--
used to be an important part of the transmission- !!!!
but we are all free to make a decision on what is right, some have more information, fact and experience behind theirs than others

IMO if you are going to do something- do it right
3x3- but that is just my opinion, since my car got a fresh trans right after purchase, and now its getting another one on acura, less than 15k miles later~
so I have not actually changed the trans fluid on my TL but plan to some year!!!
