LED foglight

I tried searching and couldn't find a definitive answer (through Acurazine search engine and Google).

I'm looking to get LED fog lights for my 08. Are they just plug and play, or do I need a harness for it? Also, for anyone with LEDs in their fog lights, what bulbs did you end up getting?

Would be more for looks over function as in this part of CA we don't really get fog. I got CBIs for my headlights and want white light for fog light to match.

If you want quality LED's go with v-leds.com or theretrofitsource.com.

if you want cheap ones that you can replace a few months in, then go with ebay. There's always the argument that "ebay costs 5x less so i can replace them 5 times and still be on top".

It's up to you how much you're willing to spend and time/effort involved in installation.

You get what you pay for

So is 15W 520lm LED bulbs too weak for functioning fog lights? I guess I'm going for more aesthetics over function, but still a bit of function would be nice. I don't really use my fogs now and really have no need for them as around my area of the Bay we don't get really get fog.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111229391247?item=111229391247&viewitem=&vxp=mtr Ordered this pair without looking that it mostly supposed to be for fog light DRL. Didn't install them, may just try since it's such a quick swap.

I was thinking the same thing (... change fog lights to LED bulbs for a different look/appearance).
I'm likely going to go with "standard white"... (click the link... carid.com).

I ordered these the other day: 2X H8 H11 Seoul LED Fog Driving Light White 6000K 80W 1200LM Car LED | eBay

I returned the 15w ones and decided to get these 80w ones lol. See how they are, they come in Monday.

These are the same bulbs they sell on eBay for cheap. The lumens seem pretty weak for functional foglights imo, so I went with the one I linked above. Even if it's not bright enough it'll still be mostly for looks, but still have some function.

Most, if not all, OEM fog lights are too weak for actual fog, so I say the brighter the LED, the better. If it's just for appearance, then I'd say to get a pair that is no less than 800 lumens.

We'll see, the ones I got are supposedly 1200lm. Mostly for appearance, but they would seem functional too.

They're coming in today and I'll have some time to install (it's a 10-15min mod anyway) so I'll try to throw some pics up later tonight if I remember.

Welp just had the bulbs delivered about 20min ago and decided to get them installed. For those looking to replace it's extremely simple, just pull the wheel well liner back and replace the bulbs. 10min job at most.

LED vs Stock

LEDs

I'll have to wait til tonight to see the light output and if the glare is bad or not, but I love how it looks compared to the stock bulbs. Even if you're not changing bulbs for function it's a great mod to update the look of the TL just a bit.

Don't notice any glare thanks to that shield in the fog light. However, since the bulb is a little shorter than the stock halogens, it doesn't light up the road as much. Looks good so I'm keeping them on

my only concern would be that these bulbs are 80 watts. the factory halogen bulb is 35. wouldn't the 80 watt bulb melt something?

no way LEDs would draw 80W.. i think it means it's equivalent to an 80W halogen bulb in terms of luminosity (brightness)

yup, I believe that was the explanation I've read somewhere.

Either way it's been 3 days and probably a total of maybe 4hrs of driving with them on, no issues.
