Leather seats starting to show cracks

I test drove a 2004 and the leather shows cracks that looked like dry desert ground.

My cousin has had his car for 4 years and his leather looks great without any sort of maintenance.

Has anyone else noticed that their seats are falling apart already?

Also, shouldn't the leather be softer? I find the TL leather to be quite stiff.

I posted in another thread earlier that my 05 driven 100 miles looks loose and puckered. I think the leather is too soft than anything else. It's been a big problem for the 04's and the problem hasn't gotten any better for 05.

You already posted about your cousin's car, and I pointed out that they are not cracks, but creases.* I also asked what car your cousin drove but you did not answer. I find it odd that you would feel the need to twice post your opinion about the leather, twice mis-state crease for cracks, and twice not state what kind of car Vinny drives.

This strikes me as a bit suspicious, or at least disingenuous - as does the low post count. Did you come here to beat up on TL's or what? Looks like it to me.

*
Crease: A line made by pressing, folding, or wrinkling. Vinny's leather had creases in it.
Crack: To break without complete separation of parts; fissure: The mirror cracked.

Leather needs to be conditioned periodically or it will crease and crack eventually. There's many good products on the market.

Look at the palm of your hand. Those are creases in the skin. They are not "cracks." Leather is cow skin. It gets those too. In addition, when leather gets dirty, the creases will show more, due to the dirt in them. So cleaning will frequently help hide them.

I've had 12 cars in the past six years. All of them had leather interiors. Only the two Acura's showed premature wear. So the "leather is cow skin" and "get's those too" doesn't really cut it.

Leather crease issue?

Actually I bought my 05 TL today.
I was just concerned, that's all.

My cousin has a 6 yo RX300 , the lexus SUV. He said that his creases did not show up until the 3rd year.
