Leather Seating Area Replacement

I tried searching for this but without success.
I need to replace the driver seat seating/back area on my 07' TL.
The local upholstery guy quoted me $600 to do it citing intensive labor. Is this something I can do myself? Has anyone on here completed a job like this?
Thanks for your help.

I have done full upholstery replacement on two previous vehicles with great success, and I will be doing my front seat during Christmas (I will write the DIY, assuming no one does if before I do). It's not terribly difficult. Once the panels are removed, the OE hog rings are cut off from the frame and the original removed. The new seat is the slipped over and fastened to the chassis of the seat using new hog rings. The only part where people typically make a mistake is failing to note the original points of attachment, which will lead to localized pulling...but you can always relocate a new ring to fix that.

FWIW: $600 is a very fair rate. I'm anticipating it'll take me 6 - 8 hours, what with taking my sweet ass time and all.
