Leather seat problem?

Hey all, I just ahave quick question about my leather seat.

I have a 2004 AT tl/NAV / body kit for 3 months and had about 10k now, i have been in the acura service shop for serval times now, all minor problems. Recently, i found out that my leather seat had butt print and it is getting worse and the leather in passager side also starting to mess (not smooth) up alittle, would the dealership replace it? anyone have any sugesstions?

i had 3 cars (toyota solara, nissan maxima and eclipse) in the past with leather seats and never had problem like this....i mean for only 3 months and i condition it with top product too...I am just so disappointed on the quality that i am getting from Acura.

Let me know what you guys think....thanks all

Search for "Butt Print(s)"

There are many posts on this website related to "butt prints". Someone was lucky enough to even get them changed with the '05 ones from the dealer. I have 600 miles on my month old TL and I am noticing the buttprints develop already. I already got my tires swapped from the dealer. I will see if I can get my dealer to change my seats now

Hi,

Like others have said, a lot of threads are available about this issue. Do a search on leather or butt prints. But to make this short, yes dealers have been replacing the seats. I had my driver's seat replaced myself a few weeks ago. They outsourced it to an upholsterer who did a great job.

As far as I know, NOBODY has gotten '04 seat covers replaced with '05 style. I've been asking around, and no dealer is willing to replace the seat with a '05 cover. Several people have tried, but nobody has actually posted pictures or reports of their '04 getting swapped with the '05 style cover. If anyone has...please let us know....and a copy of the service invoice would be nice for the rest of us to show our dealer that it's being done elsewhere. Thanks!

I took mine in yesterday for the "BUTT PRINT" issue and they agreed to replace the foam under the leather. They talked to the Technical service manager and the southeast service manager or someone and they agreed that it needed to be replaced. It also took a talk with the assistant supervisor of the dealer and i talked his head off for 30 minutes only on leather and also advised that the seats have not been abused by my butt but simply used by my butt. they gave me a 05 tl to drive and the seat in it looks different from the 04. it have a stick in the middle and the 04's don't.

Yep, it's got an extra line of stitching most likely to prevent this "butt print" problem. The tighter areas created by that additional stitch reduces the chances that there will be excessive stretching of the leather.

Hope that helps.

correction on the last line....
the 05 has a extra stitch in the middle. the 04 does not.

Hi All:

I went to the delaer yesterday and they told me they had lots of complains....but there is nothing they can do about it, because that is just the way the leathers are....according to them...
but they told me that they can try to pull the seat leather more tigher it might reduce some of the butt print. i am willing to give it a try on my next oil change and see how that goes....

Got 1,700KM on my 04 TL and butt prints are starting to form as well.

Anyone got their TL from Lougheed Acura? Wondering if you guys complained about this
and what the resolution was.

yhc:

I wouldn't do that if I were you. The leather will stretch no matter what. Besides, those idiots at the dealer will scratch something in your car.
