LAX Ticketing For Zero Plate?

Just wondering if anyone ever got a ticker for not having a license plate in the front? I will be visiting LAX for about 3-4 times soon and worry if I should be driving my TL-S (w/o front plate) or MDX w/ front plate. Of course, I'd prefer to drive the former.

Yes LAX are very picky. I guess because of the homeland security. I don't have front plate but when I do go to LAX i just put my dealer paper plate on the back but I still have my reg. sticker on the windshield. So ya....LAX ticket you....

I took my plate off and haven't had any problems...I've had friends get tickets the same day they removed the plates. All depends on who is watching you and if they care.

Do you have any other gangster type mods like all blacked out windows, fully dropped, blaster speakers, 5000$ rims??- then I would be concerned

You are at the age where you look like a responsible person, so cops take a different view and may believe things like "The detail shop broke the bracket- I have the plate right here- the dealer ordered a bracket" and not bother you.
Its mostly a secondary offense unless you are 18 and they want a look at your car

Always wear seatbelts -thats the thing they pull you over for, and of course have current insurance card with the valid registration handy.
Enjoy the trip- hope you have GPS

Cops cannot give u a ticket if ur front bumper does not have holes for the plates, if they do give u a hard time then just tell them that you bought the car that way, so even if the cop is being a dick, as long as you explain it clearly they should let u go with a warning. Worst case scenario a fix it ticket which is like 10 bucks for the processing fee.

It all depends. I fly out and into LAX all the time and I've never had a front plate or any problems.

They certainly haven't stopped me from entering.

It's at least 25 for a no front plate ticket.

I live in downtown Los Angeles and I've probably drove to LAX like 7-8 times in the past couple months with no front license plate. Hasn't been a problem for me.

My friend was ticketed for front plates at LAX not to long ago. The cops established a checking point and just pulled cars over left and right. At least, thats what I was told.

If I'm heading to LAX, I will be putting on my plates just to be safe.

If I leave San Diego I put my plates on. I've become good friends with a officer here in town who makes fix-it-tickets disappear. But out of San Diego County I'm on my own. My roommate go a ticket in his new Audi A4 for not having plates while picking somone up at LAX, he was just waiting in line to pick them up at the terminal and got poped.

I work at USC.

A week before my long-term parking lot no-front-plate parking ticket...I got pulled over by a BICYCLE cop, right off campus, for not have a front plate.

YES. A bicycle cop. In the ghetto.

Apparently, the city of LA has put the pressure on the front plate thing. Somebody told me it had to do with all of the red light cameras they've been installing.

I agree there's a really big chance that you will get pulled over. My roommate gets pulled over everytime he goes. So he asks me to drive after like the 4th ticket he got. About saying that there is no holes in the bumper to mount the might work but I highly doubt it. Roommate tried that once but officer didn't nudge until he said he just got his bumper repainted and had no time to fix the problem. Anyhow, good luck with it.

PS - It's always a better choice to park at one of the off-site locations because even if it's slightly more cost, they are usually patrolled by security, have security cameras, and are indoors.

I always park at QuikPark over by the Doubletree. (I think it's the Doubletree! There are two!) And with coupons, it's usually a good deal.

Now THAT woulda been cool.

Unfortunately, all he did was pull up next to me at a red light, and ask for my ID.

I figured that I'm younger...(I hate saying this but...) look Latino...driving a "nice" car...in a bad neighborhood, that he wanted to make sure it was mine, as my parking pass looks like the USC faculty pass.

So, with my ID in his hand, he asked me to pull back onto campus.

I tried the "there's no holes in my bumper" but he didn't go for it.

Oh well, the plate is back on for now...as those guys are out there EVERY day pulling over students in their Beemers.

To sums it up, when you go to LAX just put on the front plate. Enough said....

I see cops here give tickets in regular parking structure ONLY if the structure is city property. If it is private property, they won't.

Better put front plate on just to be safe. I work right next to LAX and I see cops (motocyle, car, bicycle) stop people everyday around this area, so you can take a chance if you want.

If they actually cite you a ticket then yes, its about 25 bucks. But then again you can fight, but then on the other hand, its only 25 bucks, lol. If the cop gives you a fix it ticket, then you dont pay anything, but the processing fee, which is 10 dollars. I would just put my plate on the side of the windshield area inside the car if i was driving in those areas. If your front bumper is nice and clean with no holes then why drill some?

I dont know about LAX, but at Ohare they go as far as to run the plates of every car in long term parking. I didnt want to leave my car in parking, so I traded cars with a buddy who had a beater. Thing is he had some unpaid parking tickets that he didnt know about. Car had a boot on it when I came home.

why would u give him ur ID in the 1st place? A bike cop? "Yeah officer, I'll give you my ID... if you can catch me!"

NYPD has the front-plate law as well, but my car is registered in FL (rear-plate only), It's fun to watch them pull U-turns after noticing I dont have plates on the front, turn their lights on, and come after me - til they realize its FL registration... they turn their lights off and move on - its at that point i laugh and tell them to get a fucking life, but it's entertaining. hahaha

Just plain stock type-s. I always wear seatbelt as I think it's foolish not to.

I bought my tl in '04, have gone to pick up and drop off friends and relatives to LAX many times, driven all over the city for dining/theatre - and not once have I ever been stopped for not having a front license plate. Of course now I hope I didn't just jinx myself!

Lax

The cops at LAX are a bunch of idiots! They gave me a fix it ticket for having a clear plastic plate protector on the front of my Cooper S.

Then, a few days later they fined my brother in law for no license plate on the front of his Audi TT.

In CA license plate covers are prohibited (CVC 5201 (f)(2)) and having front plates are required (CVC 5200). Sounds to me like you're the idiot.

It seems that this mainly happens at LAX only - as someone said earlier, they have nothing else to do. In addition, they have been severely criticized in the media a few months ago for "regular harassment" and the high level of revenue they generate from traffic tickets, that are questionable. LAX generates more income from traffic fines, than most any other incorporated or un-incorporated city in LA county.....hmm.......

Sorry if I offended you, but the reason it bothers me is that there are cars being broken into in the garages on a regular basis, and these guys are busy enforcing Code CVS 5201 and CVC 5200.

If I need additional clarification on CVC, I will be sure to contact you.

Regards

edited so as not to offend anyone - I guess idiot is a pretty harsh word in some peoples minds.
